How long do tick bite rashes last?

How long do tick bite rashes last?

Up to you: If you are allergic to the bites, then they will itch for weeks. If you scratch them, they will itch until you quit scratching them. Other bites can look like flea bites and last a long time, such as scabies and other mites. Hydrocortisone cream and oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will help the itch. ...Read more

10 days after tick bite. Bite healed but around it is a rash and is very red.

Bullseye rash?: It is common for the area immediately around the bite to be red, but if there is a clear area around that surrounded by a red ring that is a sure sign of Lyme. A single dose of doxycycline after 10 days would be worthless. ILADS (the association of Lyme specialists) recommends 200 mg of doxycycline 2x/day for 30 days. A tick bite can also cause Babesia, Bartonella, Ehrlichia & other infections. ...Read more

I have the bullseye rash around a tick bite but no other symptoms of Lyme disease. Should i still get a test done?

Get Rx & blood test!: A bullseye rash around a tick bite is considered proof of lyme disease. If you do not have symptoms yet, you almost certainly will over time. It takes time for a blood test to turn positive & you should not wait for this; the earlier you start treatment the better the outcome. Many lyme specialists advise Doxycycline 200 mg 2x/day for a month to be safe. Also get tested for co-infections like babesia. ...Read more

Lyme: A rash around a tick bite, especially if its a target like red rash and you live in part of the country where lyme is common, is essentially diagnostic of infection with lyme disease. Discovered a rash 24-48 hours after a tick bite (size 10-15 cm). Doctor prescribed Penicillin for 10 days. No other symptoms. Is the prognosis good?

Likely: It all depends on how long the Tick was attached and if the rash was typical for erythema marginatum. Typically if there is strong suspicion for tick disease the antibiotic used is Doxycycline, unless there is an allergy. There is an excellent web site at the CDC that reviews management. Blood work is always available to look for Lyme disease. ...Read more

I have a red raised rash from a recent tick bite, could this be lyme?

I have a red raised rash from a recent tick bite, could this be lyme?

Southern tick associated rash illness has a similar rash but its smaller and commonly on the trunk. You can also get a bacterial superinfection of a tick bite. I have a bullseye rash around a tick bite but do not have any other symptoms of Lyme disease. Do I need to get a blood test?

Not just Lyme: Avoid being "lyme-centric"! depending on geography, there are several other tick borne diseases ( e.g. Anaplasmosis, babesia, human monocytic or granulocytic erlichiosis) that co-infects with lyme (caused by b. Burgdorferi), or else , the diagnosis is something other than lyme (eg. Relapsing fever caused by b. Hermsii & southern tick -associated rash illness [stari] caused by a diffferent tick. ...Read more

Just a thought: but the area between the toes COLLECTS DIRT like a MAGNET...clean the area daily with a soft Q TIP (Cotton swab) You may want to also swab withan OTC (Over the Counter) cortisone cream! Try this for a week-10 days ..if this does not resolve your problem you need a "hand on" examination ....start with your PCP or Family Physician!
Hope this helps
