Had white spot on finger 2 wks ago, applied neosporin went away but left red mark so kept putting neo on. Now red blotch w peeling skin. What to do?
Stop Neosporin now: And consider applying hydrocortisone cream for a few days if there is itching. If not, just leave it alone. The peeling may be a manifestation that you become allergic to neomycin in Neosporin. It may take weeks before the red mark goes away. If problem not resolved, see doctor. ...Read more

Agree with both: I agree with both drs. Ferguson and belilovsky. This sounds like a complicated case and more than likely has more than 1 answer. The fevers/skin definitely raises the possibility of kawasakis, ut the other chronic lung problems are best evaluated by your pediatrician and a pulmonologist. Good luck. ...Read more

Dry, cracked, itchy skin between fingers, skin peeling off wrists and arms from itching. Had treatment for scabies and use lotions, both unaffective.

If you are worried that the skin is so dry that it may be getting cracked in certain locations (wrists or ankles in particular right after birth), try applying some vasoline or aquaphor ointment. In due time, the old (dead skin) will simply fall off as you bathe your baby and the new skin underneath will be nice and soft. ...Read more
Yes: If you are talking about the normal peeling of new infant skin in the first month, sure it is fine to do a moisturizer, as long as it is unscented, and preferably a creme rather than a lotion. I recommend eucerin, or even an olive oil based unscented moisturizing creme when baby gets out of the bath, if you are interested to avoid petroleum based products on baby's skin. ...Read more
It depends on where you are experiencing this problem. Most times, I find my patients have peeling around the incision site where surgical glue has been applied. This is actually the glue that is peeling off, and not the skin. Other times, the skin is peeling due to a reaction to the tape. Removing the tape and keeping the area clean and dry will help.
Please see your surgeon as soon as possible. ...Read more
Don't Pick & Peel: The best thing to do after a burn is to apply cool compresses and Hydrocortisone cream.
