Why is my skin peeling after surgery?

More Information

Skin
It depends on where you are experiencing this problem. Most times, I find my patients have peeling around the incision site where surgical glue has been applied. This is actually the glue that is peeling off, and not the skin. Other times, the skin is peeling due to a reaction to the tape. Removing the tape and keeping the area clean and dry will help. Please see your surgeon as soon as possible.

I have peeling skin and rednes in the corner of my mouth. What could this be?

Perleche

Mouth
Sounds like it could be perleche or angular chelitis which is common and caused by a buildup of moisture.Nothing dangerous. It should be looked at by a doctor to confirm this and a topical cream can be precribed, Good luck!

Can I pick off my baby’s peeling skin?

No

Skin
Just leave it alone. It will simply fall off on it's own. If you are worried that the skin is so dry that it may be getting cracked in certain locations (wrists or ankles in particular right after birth), try applying some Vasoline or Aquaphor ointment. In due time, the old (dead skin) will simply fall off as you bathe your baby and the new skin underneath will be nice and soft.

How do i stop peeling skin on fingers?

Avoid irritants

Extremity-upper-hand-thumb
Water and chemicals biggest offenders, use soapless cleanser(ie purell) rather than soap and water and a good hand cream, esp after water exposure

Dry peeling skin on differin is this a good sign?

Yes

Skin
This is exactly what one should expect from a topical retinoid (Differin is a retinoid). In the early studies on this class of medicine the researchers felt that if a patient is not getting red and peeling then the strength of the retinoid is not high enough. This side effect can often resolve or can be alleviated with a simple noncomedogenic moisturizer. Good question.
