Toe bone injury.: It sounds as though that "mound of skin" may be the result of injuring the toe bone just under the nail bed. Occasionally, the bone, when injured responds by a sudden growth spurt. As it grows upward, it raises the nail bed up and can cause a nail distortion as you have described. An r-ray will usually confirm the event. The treatment involves removing the boney spur. Had total removal of infected ingrown toenail removed in May. Is ok to paint the skin while it grows back? Dr said could take 8 months to grow fully

Paint away Monet.: If that is want you want to do, there is no reason not to. You might occasionally visually inspect the application site to make sure you are not irritating the skin with the paint. For your information, sometimes after a total nail removal, the new nail may show some distortion. This distortion can be temporary or permanent.
