Skin Discoloration In Toddlers
All age groups: Most often eczema has an onset before 5 years of age but it can occur at any age. Presentation and location of eczema can differ depending on age of onset. Slightly more common in females. A lot of children who had eczema will find that as they get older their eczema gets less severe. Some adults "grow out of" their eczema entirely. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Lining change: If there is white tissue inside the nose then it usually is a lining change, squamous metaplasia, that forms on an area that is constantly irritated. It is a protective response. Often there are yellow to bloody crusts that cover these areas because this area no longer can clean itself. Suggest saline 3x daily followed by sesame oil. ...Read more
Yes: In patients with darker skin types, any cause of redness or inflammation can heal with darker spots, called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (pih). The best way to prevent this is to control the redness/inflammation early, by treating the ringworm if that is the cause of redness. Pih takes months or years to fade once the original rash has been treated. ...Read more
Breakout every 4-7 weeks in lesions, abrasions, leaves scars and purple bruises. Entire body. Minor burn/ itching and spots darkening in skin. Ideas?
Skin is being weird: I would get to a doctor with this right away. Especially with it leaving scars, you want to get to the bottom of what's going on, even if it's something as simple as acne. Other things that come to mind include staph infections, drug allergies, or other less common systemic skin allergies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can cetaphil help in preventing dark scar marks from occurring from insect bites and other skin rashes?
Won't prevent scar: But it will soften the area and help make it less noticeable. Normal insect bites shouldn't scar unless scratched open if this is a problem too try putting some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream on and covering with band aid. If you are dark pigmented and have dark scars try fade cream but don't use it close to your eyes. ...Read more

Are objects placed on skin (spoons, metals, plastic, etc.) that stick to skin (chest and forehead) normal, common, or rare? Is it a skin condition?
Objects and skin: If someone is able to stick objects to skin and is able to keep them suspended there, this would certainly not be considered to be within the realm of the norm. I have heard of such cases but I would think they would be discovered only within the realm of "Ripleys Believe It or Not" or Circuses, and I would imagine the reason for this phenomenon, is unknown. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
