What is used on a large skin cancer removal wound (nose) that is healing naturally to help with new skin growth and/or for there to be less scarring?

Ask the DR!!!!!: Was it a MOHS procedure? Graft? Sutures? Dressing? Forget about magic pills or vitamins to reduce scars: they are bogus claims. Usually WATER is best for routine cleaning. Keep it lubricated with vaseline or Aquaphor. Bacitracin and neosporin are useless. Worse, they are common sensitizers which may cause allergic reactions and interfere with wound healing. I got skin poisioning 8 yrs ago. Ever sience then I have had a bump on my nose that hasstayed what could it be? I've been told it could be skin cancer.

Bump on nose: It would be very unusual for someone 25 to have a skin cancer on the nose. Not impossible, but unusual. It is easy for your dermatologist to shave it off flat with the skin and have it examined under the microscope. It is probably a fibrous papule or a dermal nevus or sebaceous hyperplasia but the biopsy procedure would tell and give you a cosmetic improvement anyway because the bump would be gone. ...Read more

But one can not tell right off if they have occurred. The more exposure the more risk, but single exposure does not mean zero risk, just lower. Take luck out of it and avoid risks. ...Read more

Multiple options: Non-melanoma skin cancer is usually treated by surgery. Choice of other options, 5fu, (fluorouracil) radiation, etc. Usually is based on potential cosmetic result and feasibility of surgery. A very large lesion or one that recurs might not be able to be treated surgically. A lesion on the nose might be a problem re cosmetic result and then the other options are reasonable alternatives. ...Read more
