Brother has been complaining about being itchy and has red spots/bumps all over. he was told it was allergies. Now a month later Im starting to get it?
Not all hives..: .. are allergies. A common cause of acute hives is a subclinical (otherwise asymptomatic) viral infection. Another possible explanation for sudden hive onset in 2 individuals is irritant exposure (eg new laundry detergent). A third is an insect exposure such as fleas or bed bugs. Hives for over a month should be discussed with an Allergist to help identify triggers and an effective treatment ...Read more

No steroids for you: Until a physician has taken a complete history & performed a physical examination including looking at those spots. My colleagues & i at healthtap can't do that yet. You may have eczema, hives, contact dermatitis or the rash may be unrelated to the elevated ige. Corticosteroid creams have an extraordinary track record of effectiveness & safety. I am allergic to hay, each allergy attack causes red spots and hives. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) gets rid of the hives but not the red dots. How can I get rid of them?
Avoid hay: unless you have no other option, which is difficult to imagine; this is your best bet. You can also try taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or perhaps a nonsedating antihistamine such Zyrtec prior to exposure to hay. It is probably easier to prevent the allergic reaction then to try to get rid of the red dots after it occurs. Hydrocortisone cream in combination with a good moisturizer might be helpful. ...Read more
Everytime i shower or take a bath i get itchy red spots on my body mostly on my upper body and face sometimes. Is it an allergy to be concerned of?
Heat Urticaria: Some people get hives from exposure to really hot water. The rapid change in skin temperature from cold to hot and then hot to cold causes release of histamine which is what causes the rash. You can take a shower that is not quite as hot and see if this helps or you can take a long acting antihistamine like Zyrtec (cetirizine) and see if this helps. If not see an allergist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
