Hep a vaccine Havrix 1440 for adults is out of stock. They prescribed me 2 Havrix 720 (jr). Epidemiologists say taking 2 junior has no protection?
Hepatitis A vaccine: Havrix comes in adult and pediatric doses. The adult vaccine contains 1440 EL.U. (ELISA Units) of viral antigen, while the pediatric dose contains 720 EL.U. So two doses of the pediatric vaccine given at the same time, should be equivalent to one needle injection with the adult vaccine. These are highly effective vaccines, so I don't know what information you've been told-but I think it's fine. ...Read more
AST is 66 ALT is 60 have appointment with Gastro in 2 months. I'm on a self imposed strict diet. Should those numbers worry me?
Not per se: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the enzyme levels are not too high for concern in the short term. Do talk to your doctor about all of your health issues and any medications, including, herbals, traditional Indian medications, at your next visit. ...Read more

Last 3 fasting gluc (lab): 110, 111, 103, (months apart) despite TWO normal a1c's & repeated morning gluc in low 80s on home monitor. Type2 imminent?
110 etc.: Those blood sugars are not too bad but low 80's is better. Please see your doctor and have your blood sugar checked on the doctor's device and yours. If your home monitor is giving you the wrong information you need a better instrument. Many of the folks who see doctors about glucose measurements are likely to give you a first class meter at no cost. ...Read more
I am 29 years old of 2 months pregnant, having ogtt test (after 2 hours of taking 75g glucose). Result-159 mg/dl. Is it normal?
No: No, it's not normal. But it's also not indicative of diabetes (at least by itself). 2-hr glucoses between 140-199 are considered indicative of pre-diabetes (gray zone between normal and diabetes). However, if the fasting glucose is over 125, or the a1c is over 6.5%, that would meet other criteria for diabetes. If not already diabetic, 10-20# weight loss could push diabetes further in your future. ...Read more

I'm 34 & T2 diabetic for last 2 years. My Blood sugar is 150- 160 mg/dl 90 mins after food and 120- 130, 2 hrs after food. Is this OK?
Check sugar B4 meals: Your glucose checks should be BEFORE eating rather than after eating most of the time, because the rate of absorption and digestion is so variable that it is hard to judge your treatment based on numbers after eating. Your fasting sugar first thing in the AM should be 80-120, and your sugars before the other meals and at bedtime should be 90-130. Aim toward the low end and eat low glycemic index ...Read more

-- Had to take paracetamol 650mg 4-6 hours?
Very mild elevation: A very mild elevation in ALT can be related to many things (likely viral inflammation or drug effect) - at this level I would just check your doctor about having the level repeated in the next week or so to ensure it is normalizing. If you are not feeling well, see your doctor sooner. If your level remains elevated, then your doctor may wish to do more of a work-up to discover etiology.Take care ...Read more
