Sippy Hasn't Poo
Get him help...: "normal" bowel frequency in america ranges (in a bell-curve distribution) from 3/day to 1/3-4 days. Your friend's son is clearly outside the bell curve. Lots of possibilities here, particularly based on the age of the child. If the history is accurate, then at the very least a physical exam with digital rectal check & a belly x-ray will likely be performed so appropriate treatment can be offered. ...Read more
Let Pediatrician kno: You can start by letting your pediatrics know. You can try an enema if you know how to do it and have experience. Otherwise make sure your child gets lots of fluids to drink. My one month old baby hasn't pooped in 2 days s there anything I could do or give him to help him poop?
May not be necessary: If your baby is breastfed and feeding well, urinating normally, and acting well, it can be normal to skip a few days before stooling. If your baby is formula fed, it is a little less usual to skip days, but can still happen. Generally, it would be recommmended to wait. However if your baby seems uncomfortable, not feeding, urinating less, or you are concerned, you should see your pediatrician. ...Read more
I haven't pooped in several days. I tryed chocolate laxitive and suppository and hasn't helped. What else can I try? I normally poop every day
Don't help, he's ok: Not all babies poop every time you breastfeed, in fact, the normal range for a stooling interval is anywhere from a few hrs, to weekly!! Try not to fixate on how long it's been since the last poop, rather give it a few days, and if nothing is happening, a tsp or 2 of Karo corn syrup in the bottle should loosen up the stool to allow regular pooping. ...Read more

Is creamy like peanut butter poop normal for 3 month old baby who hasn't pooped in a week but normally does every other day & more loose?
Probably OK: It is not unusual for babies to have change in stool pattern as they grow.. Also, it is normal for breastfed babies to have longer periods of time with no stools. Breast milk is the perfect baby food, thus there is less "waste" so to speak. If the baby's stomach is not distended, and he has a large soft stool infrequently this is not constipation requiring intervention. OK if bottle fed too. ...Read more

If you are 19, it is highly unlikely that you have colon cancer. Even with cancer, blood is not always present in the stool. At your next visit to you doctor you discuss the issue.

My bf was having stomach cramps for almost 24hrs, and now almost 24hrs later his poop is blue. He hasn't hardly been eating, what could it be?
Sounds serious: Unless he ate a gallon of blueberries or such. No, my guess is it may be internal bleeding. Does the water look red and the stool REALLY dark, almost black? At any rate, if he is not eating or drinking he will get dehydrated and someone needs to test this stool for blood. He should be seen. ...Read more

Okay well my newborn isn't pooping been one day now or 2 days she hasn't peed or poop. Am worried. Am also breastfeeding. & she is getting the milk?
Urine output: One of the ways we gauge adequate breast milk intake is by the number of wet diapers a baby makes in a 24 hour period (should be at least 5). The other way is by weight gain (at least an ounce per day). Stooling patterns are highly variable in nursed newborns as some stool every feed while others stool once a week! ...Read more
I have a 3 month old boy who hasn't had a solid poo for about 6 weeks. It looks like green water. Seems his tummy hurts after breastfeeding?
See baby's doctor: If your baby is growing well, then this may not be of concern. There is a huge range of normal in the realm of pooping, especially in infants. If your baby seems to be in real discomfort, or is not growing however, then there may well be something wrong. The only way to know will be to do some tests - probably starting with some poop tests. Good luck! ...Read more

Why is my 4 year olds poo green? For the past 2 days she's been going to the toilet a lot but hasn't complained of a stomach ache.
HARD TO SAY: It could be that she may be having rapid transit through the gut for some reason, perhaps a virus. It's possible she's been consuming some food product with green or blue food coloring. As long as she does not feel too poorly, and is taking in liquids and food, I wouldn't be too concerned. But, if it continues or she shows other signs of illness, see your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more
