When I blow my nose, the mucous is mixed with blood. Does this mean that my sinuses are inflamed and the source of the blood? Nose not the source.

Dry nose: This time of year it probably means your nose is dry. You can't know the nose is not the source of the blood, even if an ENT used a scope in your nose to look. If you're on oxygen, the nose is almost certainly the source. Use a saline nasal gel spray to help fight dryness, and humidify your oxygen if not already. Don't blow your nose vigorously. Try using a netipot or sinus rinse bottle. ...Read more

It opens occasionally, permitting air to enter the middle ear, which is what is happening when you blow your nose. The tube can be narrowed by irritants, allergens or infection, causing a build up of fluid in your ears. My right sinus is constantly draining. I cannot drink milk or any dairy because it immediately clogs up my sinuses and I am constantly blowing my nose?

How do you know?: Sinusitis can not be diagnosed by a patient. It really sounds as if you have allergic rhinitis and the etiology may be dairy products. The drainage is most likely coming from the right nasal cavity. You also may have a nasal polyp. Get a diagnosis from an ENT doctor or an allergist. The gold standard for a diagnosis of rhino-sinusitis is a cat scan. ...Read more

I have allergies. I use ATROVENT and Qnasl. I rinse my sinuses before. Then ATROVENT. Then Qnasl. My nose still runs after. When can I blow my nose?

Before the spray: If Qnasl & Atrovent failed to control the runny nose, it is time for you to consult an allergist. Do note that sometimes the sinus cavity may retain the water from the irrigation causing the runny nose when you tip your head in a certain position. How can I unblock my sinuses so l can sleep better at night. I blow my nose nothing come out. Ct showed inflammed sinus 1side. Told use saline spray.

ENT assistance: You might well need the expert advice and treatment of an ENT-Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. For sinuses that are diseased like that, saline spray is a good first line therapy. You might want to try sleeping at something of an incline, since the gravity can help drain the sinus. You may need anti-inflammatory medications too, to get the swelling to go down so things can drain. Follow up with doc ...Read more

Every morning when l get up and blow my nose l have blood show from each nostril is this normal with a sinues infection?

Sinusitis: The answer is no. Nosebleed is not a symptom of sinusitis. However, medication used to treat an acute sinus infection such as decongestants may cause drying of the nasal mucosal lining causing them to be more prone to bleeding. Or excessive clearing of sinus secretions may cause damage to small vessels in the nasal mucosal linings. Get your doctor to look in your nose. ...Read more

Stuffy nose: Using nasal irrigation can be helpful but when used regularly over a longer period of time it can actually perpetuate the sinus symptoms. Nasal mucous has important immune substances.
