Sinuses Hum At Night
Hello, my sinuses get blocked at night not completely but sometimes to the point where I struggle to breath through my noise. What can I do?
Sinuses are air filled spaces in the head that have several proposed functions: 1. They serve as shock absorbers in cases of head trauma 2. Lighten the skull 3. Humidify and filter the air while also producing mucus 4. Play a role in vocal resonance. The head contains 4 paired sinus cavities: maxillaries (cheek) under the eyes, ethmoids (between the eyes), frontals (above ...Read more
I took Clairiton about 6 hours ago and it did nothing for me. Can I take some night quill I just can't stop coughing and my sinuses are so stuffy.
Yes but: I would doubt that either would help your cough unless it is from post-nasal drips. Nasal stuffiness is also not controlled by either. If this is from a cold, you may be better off trying an OTC decongestant spray - but be sure that you don't overuse it or use it for more than 5 days. ...Read more
Last night I started having a headache that slowly started making me hallucinate, and I figured it was just my sinuses until I started puking. Help.
It has been estimated that approximately 70% of migraine headaches overlie the sinuses and are triggered by changes in barometric pressure. These patients actually suffer from migraine but usually are diagnosed with sinus headache and use over-the counter vasoconstrictor (nose spray) agents for relief.
Rec.: see orofacial pain or headache specialist for diagnosis and management.
Good luck. ...Read more
After snorting MDMA all night long, and having swollen sinuses and bloody noses. What should I look out for the most?
When my husband sneezes blood comes out I am very worried and he hqs sinuses all times and can't even breathe through the night?
See physician: Symptoms of sinus infections may cause nosebleed in both children and adults. Both systemic and local agents cause nosebleed. Local factors atrophic rhinitis, chronic inflammation, external and internal trauma, foreign bodies, low humidity and neoplasm. Systemic diseases such as liver disease and hemophilia can also. Recurrent nosebleeds see physician for evaluation. ...Read more
I don't have a cold but when I go to bed at night my sinuses get so plugged that by morning I have a headache! What can I do for it?
Periodic congestion: Nasal congestion that occurs only under very specific circumstances is suggestive of allergic rhinitis (especially dust mites if symptoms occur in bed), or vasomotor rhinitis (perhaps triggered by laying flat). Over the counter allergy medications and sleeping with the head and chest slightly elevated may help. Prescriptions solutions may also be available to you. ...Read more
Since I turned 44 my sinuses are always blocked at night unless I takes sudafed before bed. Is this normal. Can I treat this any other/ better way?
What's blocked?: If you can't breathe through your nose, your nose is blocked. Sudafed can take down swelling of the nasal turbinates, but also can keep many people awake. You need a good exam by an ent, including nasal endoscopy. This could be chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, other nasal masses, allergy, or all of the above. Steroid nasal sprays may help, or antibiotics, or surgery, depending on the problem. ...Read more
Every night I get weird head pressure when the sun goes down. I have anxiety and recovering from labyrinthitis. Is this just anxiety or maybe sinuses?
See your doctor: Certainly possible these symptoms could be related to anxiety, but attending to any infection as soon as possible is essential especially with sinuses which are near brain. I would suggest seeing your doctor as he may want to do sinus X-ray and other tests. Hope that helps. Thank you for using Healthtap ...Read more
What causes my sinuses to be stuffy but only at night? Before that I had a runny nose during day for 3 days but it stopped after I used the netti pot
Nasal congestion: A number of allergens cause nasal congestion and it tends to get worse when you lay down. Most notably indoor allergens such as dust mites and pet dander can cause it, but also delayed reactions from outdoor daytime exposure do the same. Consult a board certified allergist, identify your triggers and get relief. ...Read more

Had a glass of beer and my sinuses infection is really bad, is it okay to take dexamol cold night care with paracetamol, or will affect my liver?
OK on occasion: You are correct that paracetamol can harm your liver, but only when taking large amounts or regularly for a long time. Occasional use is safe. My favorite treatment for sinus infection is the herb pellargonium sidoides (sold as umcka in the us)- not sure how available it is in your area. See http://www. Foundhealth. My teeth hurt REALLY bad at night. Had xrays everything looks fine. Sinuses also are fine. I also wear a mouth guard. It only hurts on top teeth. Any idea?
Night guard adjust: Adjustment is needed. The greatest harm to the teeth and supporting structures occurs during para-function (clenching and bruxism), not during normal function. Ask your dentist for properly adjusting night guard in CR with point contacts in the posterior areas with anterior guidance providing immediate posterior disclusion. He/she knows what I am talking about. ...Read more
I have been having a really dry sore like throat every night this week and dry sinuses in the back if my throat as well, what could be the cause?
Dry air: Probably the most common cause of those symptoms is dry air. This is very common in cold weather. You could try a room humidifier. Also, for the nose, one of my favorite remedies is nasal saline gel. It is sold over the counter. You apply a small amount to the inside of the nose at bedtime. ...Read more
My sinuses are drying out at night clear down my throat, makes it hard to swallow to the point it wakes me up. I use a humidifier not working. Help, ty
Moisturize the nose: This is a dry time of year, and the nose can get really dry (sometimes so dry that it causes nose bleeds!). In addition to a humidifier, other options are using nasal saline spray (not decongestant sprays) and nasal saline gel. Also drinking a lot of water can help. ...Read more

I've been spitting up blood for about a week now. I went to the er last night, chest xray came back normal. Doc said it could be sinuses. I'm 19?
More exams: I think based upon just an xray I'm not sure that's just the end of the story. Did the ER doc actually visualize blood in your sinuses/nose/ears/throat to back that theory up? If so, then he/she might be right. But if not, who's to say it's not coming from your esophagus or your stomach? It's possible an upper endoscopy is needed to see what's going on down there if no blood can be found in your sinuses ...Read more
How can I unblock my sinuses so l can sleep better at night. I blow my nose nothing come out. Ct showed inflammed sinus 1side. Told use saline spray.
ENT assistance: You might well need the expert advice and treatment of an ENT-Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. For sinuses that are diseased like that, saline spray is a good first line therapy. You might want to try sleeping at something of an incline, since the gravity can help drain the sinus. You may need anti-inflammatory medications too, to get the swelling to go down so things can drain. Follow up with doc ...Read more
At night, my sinuses swell. Sometimes they instantly clear, else they'll clear while I'm asleep. In daytime drippy nose = atrovent (ipratropium) spray a.M. Had turbinate procedure. Ent says he can't help. Can you?
Common as we age: Many, many older people develop chronic nasal drainage/ nasal congestion for unknown reasons. Claritin or Allegra bring mixed results. Some people have great success with steroid nasal spray (a prescription). Some people use an otc sleep aid that inserts into the nostrils to widen the airway. You may have this forever without ever determining the cause or finding a great cure. ...Read more
Nasal steroids: Nasal steroids are generally a good place to start, as the treat all kinds of inflammatory sinus disease (allergic and non-allergic). Antihistamines help if there is an allergic component, as do oral decongestants. An evaluation by an otolaryngologist is always helpful to look for causes. ...Read more

See below: Justin: Sinus or sinusitis is an overused term, without a uniform connotation. Dry air can dry out the mucus membrane of the nose and cause a sensation of burning, especially if you do not make enough mucus. Dry air by itself does not cause sinusitis. Not exactly: Your sinuses are part of the facial skeleton. The are air pockets within the bone. The openings from your sinuses onto the nasal passage can be widened and this will sometimes improve drainage. There are a number of smaller sinus cells between your eyes, and these can be surgically treated to remove the internal walls to create a single, larger space, but ultimately you will still have sinuses. ...Read more
