The lymph nodes i suppose are not he neck and most likely are reactive lymph nodes. 90% of URI are viral, but if he is having fever or chills, it is best to have him see his pediatrician for proper diagnosis. What's the question?: The symptoms sound like a viral respiratory infection ("cold"). Unless you develop a high fever, severe cough, chest pain, or shortness of breath, no antibiotics or specific medicines will help. Take full course: I'd keep going with the cefdinir it until it's all finished. I am not sure how long you've been taking it but if you are on days 1-7, have faith and keep going.
