I have pain when I touch the backside of my head, above the base of skull, but behind ear. Sinus infection/cavities may exist. Advice?
Pain in the back of the head is unusual for a sinus infection. This would be more likely an ear infection but this is unlikely as well. This could be a mastoiditis which is rare but plausible. This can come from a middle ear infection not treated or inadequately treated. Other causes could be referred neck pain. See your doctor very soon.

Not necessarily: Fluid can back up into mastoids related to inner ear problems with fluid and sometime infection. Infection in mastoid which can result in necrosis and bone involvement can have fluid in mastoid air cells as well. Sinus infections involve paranasal sinuses frontals (above eyes) ethmoids medial to orbits, and lateral to nose, and maxillary inferior to orbits. These are facial in location. ...Read more

How do I unclog my ears if I am currently recovering from a sinus infection and have extremely clogged ears?
I hope you mean...: I hope you mean get rid of the "clogging feeling", not your ears! All kidding aside, things you do to relieve pressure on an airplane are helpful here. Chew gum, yawn, "pop" your ears by plugging your nose and shut your mouth and blow (this may be a little uncomfortable at first, but is really helpful). Time also helps, as sometimes it just takes a while for the body to clean up the stuff after. ...Read more
