Can a sinus infection cause nose bleed? How come my symptoms such as hoarseness, sore throat, runny nose, and nasal congestion only getting worse?
Sinuses & Epistaxis.: The inflammation caused by sinus infection, along with the pure violence of constantly blowing your nose, can lead to nosebleeds in the context of a sinus infection That being said, sinus infections tend to be bacterial, so you may be getting worse because you need an antibiotic. ...Read more

Not necessarily: The symptoms of a sinus infection often involve a post nasal drip as opposed to a runny nose. The nasal passages can actually be relatively clear if the sinuses are totally blocked and then there will often be a headache or facial pain and tenderness. The drainage will often be worse upon lying down and can trigger a cough. ...Read more
Does having green boogers all of a sudden with no clear runny nose beforehand indicate a sinus infection?
No: Oftentimes, nasal mucus dries up in the nose and present with a yellowish or greenish color. Still, even if its thick mucus, it does not suggest a sinus infection without other painful symptoms. You can get same thick mucus when you have early stage cold. ...Read more

I have severe congestion, sneezing, runny nose, awful dry sometimes yellow mucus cough, my mucus from my nose is clear. I took allegra, did not help at all. I can't decide if its allergies or a sinus infection/cold. It's been 3 days. Should I take mucinex c
Infection?: Try a different antihistamine, like Benadryl (diphenhydramine). If 25-50 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) makes no difference, then it is not likely that your symptoms are due to allergies. There is no good evidence that mucinex is much help and it is expensive and has its own side effects, and I never recommend it. Avoid fragrances and aerosols while sick (add to irritation of respiratory tract). See MD if no better in 2-3 days. ...Read more

My son is 9 years old has a history of sinusitis and allergies he has been up for 24 hours with sneezing and runny nose, could it be a sinus infection?
Not Benadryl (diphenhydramine): There are far better AND SAFER antihistamines which will not make him dopey. Claratin, Allegra, and Zyrtec are less expensive if you look for the generics. OTC NASACORT (triamcinolone) is more effective, can be used with antihistamine or by itself. Antibiotics are not appropriate unless there is fever and pain. ...Read more

Facial pain, fever up to 103 (fever has stopped), yellow watery nasal discharge, cough, greenish brown sputum. Sinus infection and/or bronchitis?
Possibly: Or you may be getting over a cold. As a cold improves the nasal secretions get thicker and a little yellow. If you are coughing up thick brown sputum with a deep cough I would be more concerned about a bacterial pneumonia or possibly bronchitis. Most bronchitis is viral and happens as the last part of a cold.If not improving see your doctor. ...Read more

3 neck glands swollen on my right side. No pain, but a lot of drainage and occasional stuffy nose. Sinus infection or viral infection?
Could be either, or?: You are correct in presuming that typically swollen lymph nodes are due to an infection nearby. Bacterial infections may be more likely to cause this than viral, but both can do it. Laryngeal/throat infection more likely to cause than higher up sinuses. Watch these glands. If they don't resolve in 2-3 weeks, have your doctor examine you. Sometimes enlarged lymph nodes are tumor, not infection. ...Read more
