Having massive headaches and sinus pain.. Had a bad cold about a week ago did it turn into sinus infection?
Actually....: The symptoms are not a great indicator of sinus infection nor are MRI's or even biopsies. What's the difference between a sinus headache and a sinus infection? I've heard the term "sinus headache" used frequently.
Not always sinuses: The term sinus headache is way overused. In fact, many "sinus" headache patients have completely clear sinuses on scans.. Meaning it never was coming from the sinuses! migraine is a missed diagnosis in many such patients. If you have sinus infection there is often facial and/or dental pain, nasal drainage, congestion, cough, bad breath, fever etc. If it's just pressure, it is headache. ...Read more

Stuffy nose. Coughing. Sinus headache. Coughing up green phlgem. Could this be a sinus infection?
Green Sputum: Yes, it could be a sinus infection. Depends: Some people equate facial pressure or sinus pressure with a headache. This problem may be due to allergies or a sinus infection infection. This shouldn't cause nausea. If your headache is more of a migraine condition, then nausea would be commonly associated with that. If this is a longstanding problem for you, you should see a doctor to sort this out. ...Read more
Depends: Sinus headache is caused by a difference in pressure between the sinus cavity and the outside world. The drainage pathway of the sinuses are narrow. When swelling occurs in the nasal cavity, this becomes blocked. Reversing the swelling will allow for the pressure to equalize. Knowing the cause of the swelling helps determine what works best - uri, allergy, infection, etc. See your doctor or ent. ...Read more
