I take flomaxtra side effects are severe headaches sinus earache just to name a few is there an alternative medicine I can take.?

Flomaxtra=tamsulosin: Flomaxtra is australian brand of tamsulosin which is used to treat enlarged prostate (benign prostate hypertrophy or bph). It allows prostate to relax (opposite of decongestants which cause relative constriction). Also avoid most (older) antihistamines eg diphenhydramine. Since I was trained in america, I have no idea what's available in australia. See if you can get alfuzosin or silodosin or 5ari. ...Read more

Multiple Issues?: Sounds like you could potentially have multiple issues going on, but possibly a good sinus infection. Pregnant women can typically take Tylenol (acetaminophen) but not NSAID's (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen). Antibiotics that are in pregnancy category B are considered safe such as penicillin & amoxicillin. This assumes you have no allergies, but you need to see a doctor/dentist for a diagnosis. ...Read more

Earache due to sinus pain, or 2 unrelated infections?

Earache due to sinus pain, or 2 unrelated infections?

Earache: Earache is most often due to pressure in the eustachian tube as the normal ventilating air is reabsorbed due to obstruction and the tube collapses and generates a negative pressure (like suction) stretching the ear drum and sucking it inwards. This is uncomfortable. The same congestion that causes sinusitis can cause blockage of the eustachian tube so these conditions often go together. ...Read more

8 year old daughter woke up with sinus pain, sore throat, earache, congestion. What can I give her to treat the symptoms? She is extremely healthy, has never had sinus symptoms before. No fever yet.

There: There are a few things you can do to treat a cold caused by an upper respiratory virus.
- voice rest - probably the best thing you can do for a sore throat and raspy voice.
- drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated
- hot tea with honey and lemon
- chicken noodle soup - our grandmas were right! Research shows that chicken noodle soup is very helpful in treating a cold.
- or just a spoon-full of honey - honey has been shown to be as effective a cough suppressant as many over the counter medications
- inhale steam from a shower or cool mist from a vaporizer
- Acetaminophen and/or Ibuprofen can help with inflammation and throat, ear and sinus pain

symptoms from a cold virus should start to improve after a few days. If it does not, of if she gets worse or has any difficulty breathing, call her doctor. You should also call her doctor if the sore throat worsens (could be strep) or if her ear pain worsens (ear infection) or for any new fevers or rash. ...Read more
