What is the treatment for singulair (montelukast) overdose?

What is the treatment for singulair (montelukast) overdose?

None usually needed: Http://www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih. Gov/pubmed/17934951 here's a reference to 3698 cases of singulair (montelukast) overdose in a 5 year period in texas from 2000-2005. Children ingested up to 536mg with at most "minor effect." the authors conclude overdoses can probably be managed at home. If the dose ingested is on the high side, you still may want to take action just to be safe. Most high ingestions did go to hospital.

I think I took too much singulair, (montelukast) what do I do so I won't overdose?

10mg a day: Is the usual dose but studies have used doses as high as 900mg a day for a week without any adverse consequences. Post marketing surveillance has seen overdoses as high as 1000mg in adults and kids without adverse events.

Is singulair (montelukast) effective by itself?

Not in my opinion: I have seen 100's of patients on singular and I can't tell it does much at all. I think if you're going to be on a drug in this class for asthma, zyflo is a much better choice.
