Can allergic rhinitis w/ severe post nasal drip and painful swollen l-neck gland bring on high blood press. prescription zyrtec, singulair, (montelukast) flonase, motrin?
Probably not: Allergic rhinitis is an immunological disease caused by mast cell degranulation and the release of mediators of inflammation, especially histamine. I suppose it is possible that mast cell inflammatory mediators could alter blood pressure. Also another possibility is anxiety caused by the presence of severe allergic response. In general most cases of hypertension are not caused by nasal allergy. ...Read more

Post Nasal Drip: Agree with input from both dr. Refai & dr. Novick. This says "pot nasal drip". It may be a type for "post" but if it was meant to say "pot" then please stop using. Cannabis is a respiratory irritant. Concur with medical evaluation. Neti pots can reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Depends: If the soreness is muscular in origin from being open a long time or from stress on your joint, it is usually reversible and responsive to nsaids like ibuprofen. If the soreness seems to be near a tooth that was recently worked on, nsaids will help but you may need additional treatment on that tooth. Give it a day or 2 to settle down and return to the dentist if it persists. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Can post nasal drip cause the tonsils to be red and some soreness? Runny nose, sinus headache, and tonsil area red and sore. Thanks :)
Not usually: Post-nasal drips do not affect the tonsils. With the cluster of symptoms , you need to rule out the presence of sinusitis. Absent that, acid reflux may affect the lingual tonsil (that one which sits behind your tongue and not usually visible) and occasionally the oropharyngeal tonsils if the reflux reaches as high as your mouth. See ENT. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I've had headache with sinus pressure for a week(no congestion). Sometimes the entire head/neck aches. Decongestants/ZyrtecD don't help. Any advice?
See an ENT: An Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor might be able to help you. You may not feel congested, but one or more of your sinuses maybe filled with fluid. The therapy may involve one or more nasal sprays and maybe an antibiotic. I have self treated for sinus problems before, unsuccessfully. Trust me. See a professional. They are also known as otolaryngologists. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
