What happens when you take amlodipine and simvastatin together?

What happens when you take amlodipine and simvastatin together?

Lower BP and lipids: Amlodipine is a good blood pressure agent, and Simvastatin a cholesterol agent. There is no interaction between the two. In fact, there is at least one product which has the two combined into one pill (caduet). Should have no problems with that combination. ...Read more

Which medicine (10 mg of pravachol (pravastatin) or 10 mg simvastatin) is safer and tolerated while taking 5 mg of amlodipine (ccb) at night. Thanks?

Which medicine (10 mg of pravachol (pravastatin) or 10 mg simvastatin) is safer and tolerated while taking 5 mg of amlodipine (ccb) at night. Thanks?

Pravostatin maybe: There is an interaction between amlodipine and statin drugs which can cause a breakdown in muscle tissues. It is more common with Simvastatin than pravachol (pravastatin). The recommendations say Simvastatin dose should be 20mg or less if taking amlodipine. So both of your choices are ok. But assume risk slightly higher with simvastatin. Note Simvastatin maybe more effective in lowering cholesterol. ...Read more

Simvastatin can: Help lower cholesterol levels. The HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide), (hydrochlorothiazide) however, can cause increases in both glucose and cholesterol. There are other blood pressure medications which do not contain HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide). Discuss w/your doctor. ...Read more

Hard to know: Without knowing more information, it's hard to explain what is happening to you. I recommend going back to your doctor and let them know. You could take the medication at different time of the day or go back to the original regimen. Your current doctor would be the best to answer this question. ...Read more

M58, may I talke Norvasc 10 mg, zocor (simvastatin) 10 mg and glucophage 500 mg at the same time? Is there any interaction

See below: Norvasc increases zocor (simvastatin) levels thus the maximum recommended dose of zocor (simvastatin) when also taking Norvasc is 20 mg but you're okay with that. However, you should take zocor (simvastatin) in the evening to maximize its benefit, whereas, generally, glucophage is usually taken during the day. You can take the Norvasc anytime. ...Read more

Any problems from taking 5 mg amlodipine @ 7 pm, and 10 mg simvastain @ 10 pm. How far can you space them a part to be safe from interactions.?

Interact: The amlodipine can interact (delay) how Simvastatin is metabolized leading to higher blood levels and potentially side effects. This usually happens at higher doses of Simvastatin. My practice is to avoid using the two in combination. Speak with your doctor. ...Read more

1 doctor agreed:

Blood donation: There could be other reason/s why they do not allow you to donate blood. How high your blood pressure when you were there? I know that a small amount of Norvasc and zocor (simvastatin) in the blood can be detected and combination can increase risk for muscle damage. Perhaps this is something they want to prevent from happening to the blood receiver. Sometimes, blood center has different stringent criteria. ...Read more

Since I go to gym, diet, control my food, I have been remove from taking Norvasc and zocor (simvastatin). But not I get gout attack. Any reason or idea why?

Hydration: Many times I see patients in my practice who control their diet, avoid alcohol, exercise who still get gout attacks. When I inquire, many of them are either a) on a diuretic (water pill) or b) don't hydrate enough (drink enough water). Uric acid precipitates out into joints when there is not enough fluid volume to dissolve it. See your internist for proper bloodwork to find the cause. ...Read more

Cutting Food Carbs: As water based creatures, we need near zero carb intake & mostly store energy as triglyceride fats which reject water & the associated mass which would >quintuple the weight we would have to move around as part of our body mass. Can I take amlodipine 5 mg @ 7 am bystolic (nebivolol) 5mg @ 7pm, then smithvastion @ 10 pm. Any risk or interactions.? Thanks.

Not a problem: Many people take these medications in this sort of regimen.

The Simvastatin is ideally taken at bedtime, which you are.

The amlodipine and bystolic (nebivolol) are taken at various times during the day. Would ensure you are taking them at similar times every day.

Would not expect a problem for am amlodipine, evening bystolic (nebivolol) and bedtime simvastatin. ...Read more
