Yolks yes, whites no: One or two yolks weekly should be fine - that's where the fat and cholesterol are. Whites are mainly protein and are a very lean and effective source of such and can be eaten more liberally. ...Read more

Ingredients: potato powder, potato starch, modified food starch, vegetable oil. Is it healthy?

REALLY UNHEALTHY!!!: This is recipe for disaster. Potatoes are in the environmental working group's dirty dozen foods-they're high in pesticides if not organic & are readily converted to sugar so raise blood sugar, causing weight gain & increased risk of diabetes. Generic "vegetable oil" is almost certainly corn, soy or canola which are all gmo if not organic & very toxic, fried potatoes have carcinogenic acrylamides. ...Read more

Iam gluten free gaining weight why if i avoid all bread items i eat chicken beans beef along side salad no dressing rice or corn cereal fruits?

Gaining weight: That's great that you are not consuming a lot of carbs and are watching your diet. You also need to look at the overall quantity (and calories) of what you are eating as well. Are you exercising too? Without physical activity (cardio), it is hard to lose weight. You have to burn more calories than you are consuming. You might be doing this already and have another reason for weight gain. ...Read more

Eat and do this:: High fiber, low fat, very low saturated fat, very low sugar (simple carbs), no juice, no soda, no gatorade. Limit sweets a lot. Eat regular meals spaced evenly through the day - do not eat most of your calories at dinner. Get 22-30 min of exercise (a brisk walk) every day. Avoid packaged foods, avoid eating out, eat fresh food that you prepare from scratch most of the time. You can do it. ...Read more

Is cereal healthy or whole grain bread?

Is cereal healthy or whole grain bread?

Eat 2 Beat CA, Pt.12: WHOLE GRAINS: For years, we've been urging our patients to eat three to five servings of whole grains a day. There's good reason: they are linked to a lower risk of colorectal cancer, as a 2013 Danish study of 108,000 people has found. What's more, whole grains offer protection against other chronic conditions, including heart disease & type 2 diabetes. (Ref: AARP, 5/2014) ...Read more

Might whole wheat pancakes be unhealthy?

Might whole wheat pancakes be unhealthy?

Whole wheat pancakes: Pancakes themselves are just simple sugars (even "whole wheat" pancakes are not complex carbohydrates truthfully) with liquid sugar (syrup) and fat (butter) added. So pancakes are a bad nutritional choice made worse. And we can't rescue any health value by adding things like blueberries or cranberries. If you make them with psyllium husk added, you can at least get some fiber in there. ...Read more

Is gluten free pasta ( maize starch, soy flour, potato starch and rice starch)with about 40 gm carbohydrates good for cholesterol ?

Does not matter: Since 90% of the cholesterol is produced by the body regardless of your diet, the above would not noticeably affect your cholesterol level. Do note that too much carb may not be good for your health. I don't believe extreme diet does anyone any good. Just eat anything in moderation and exercise at least 3 hrs a week will likely keep you in better shape. ...Read more

Gym membership: This or some other intensive way of staying aerobically conditioned will do you much more good than fretting over food choices. What you are doing now is basically sound. Build your cardiovascular and muscular systems by exercise, and limit calories as needed to achieve lean athleticism. Food choices, despite all the hoopla, are less critical for ordinary folks. ...Read more

Yes: You should be fine as long as you are hitting about 50-60gr, which it sounds like you are. Any more than that and you are likely to just urinate it out. Make sure you eat a post workout meal with ~40% carbs and 60% protein balance to maximize muscle gains. Hope this helps! ...Read more
