I have a simple avascular left ovarian cyst 2.2cm is it something to worry about?

No: Most avascular cysts in the ovary are functional or physiological cysts that appear and resolved spontaneously. For peace of mind, a follow up ultrasound may be performed in 3 months or so ...Read more

Cyst (Definition)

A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. No: Simple ovarian cysts are usually benign (not cancer) in a woman in her early 30s. If they become large or painful, they can be removed with laparoscopic surgery but frequently go away on their own. ...Read more

I have a 5.9 cm simple ovarian cyst. I have no pain or symptoms. I was told if it grows it might need surgery? What is the danger if it grows?

I have a 5.9 cm simple ovarian cyst. I have no pain or symptoms. I was told if it grows it might need surgery? What is the danger if it grows?

Important: First, are you 47 years old? I mean no offense but 50% of ages given on HealthTap are untrue. If 47 is correct the risks are torsion (twisting) and rupture. Any cyst larger than 6 cm. is a significant risk for these , both of which require emergency surgery. AT age 47 the chance of cancer, while not terribly high, is still plausible. Hence, needs removal. Good wishes. ...Read more

Can you tell me what a simple ovarian cyst is?

Can you tell me what a simple ovarian cyst is?

OK: The definition of simple ovarian cyst is in comparison with complex cyst. Simple cyst is diagnosed with ultrasound, you will see a cystic structure in the ovary with echo-lucent (very clear). Very oftern, it is a non-ovulated follicle. It will disappear naturally without treatment. The complex cyst, on the other hand, with echogenic area inside of the cyst, needs further investigation. ...Read more

Maybe: You do not mention how large or small it is. A large simple cyst can be painful just as a small one. If it does not respond to treatment and it is still painful, there may not be that many options left other than take it out. ...Read more

Have two ovarian cysts on my LT ovary. 4.5cm simple & 1.5cm solid. Solid one has increased to 5.3cm. nothing has been done, 2nd opinion? Alot of pain

Pain trumps cystsize: When you are having pain then the MD needs to consider the source. A 1.5 cm solid or 4.5 simple cysts do not usually produce severe pain due to their small size. However, a repeat ultrasound, pelvic exam or laparoscopy may be warranted. ...Read more

I have a simple ovarian cyst of 4,14 cm.what is the possibility of it to rupture? what should I do if I want to be safe until next ultrasound?

Will likely go away: Physiologic simple cysts that are under hormonal influence will come and go often, sometimes by a slow leak, sometimes by a rupture and sometimes by your body essentially absorbing it. Unfortunately rupture can cause pain and sometimes it can bleed, but there is not much you can do to prevent this sequence other than to prevent cyst formation, possibly by using birth control pills. ...Read more
