I : I am so sorry you are going through this. Ovarian cysts are a very painful, miserable condition. As the er physician advised removal, it is worthwhile to discuss this with a gynecologist. In some patients, treatment with anti-inflammatory type medications or even birth control pills can help shrink cysts down. However, if the cyst looks concerning on ultrasound, often times the patient is advised to have it removed. Probably not.: A simple cyst is usually benign and will go away on its own. In fact when you ovulate, the egg is released from a cyst and then the cyst resolves. Cysts do not usually interfere with ovulation. Depending on the size and symptoms of this cyst, your doctor may want to repeat your ultrasound in 6 weeks to insure it has resolved or is not getting bigger or complex appearing. ...Read more
