The prior doctor sounds as if he/she was describing a brachial plexopathy. While that might be the case your presentation would be odd. True neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (tos) is more commonly seen in women when congenital. More common is a traumatic cause (i.e. Motorcycle accident, gunshot wound...). The differential diagnosis includes median nerve entrapment at the pronator teres muscle and/or carpal tunnel syndrome. Tylenol, (acetaminophen) moist heat : Enbrel (etanercept) is a good choice to help get the disease under control. If she is not on Ibuprofen or another NSAID medication this us also an option.
