7 month old baby will not eat solids. She drinks approximately 16 oz of formula milk a day but refuses solids. Should I reduce her milk intake?
Formula: I'm sure it has to do with the manufacture and processing technique. But, you would have to contact the company to find out why. They may have information on their web site. ...Read more

2 month old baby drinks milk every hour.Having less breast milk so using formula.she drinks 2.5 oz at a time & she stops when she is full.overfeeding?
Whenever needed: Newborns should be fed from the breast "only", but bottles can be used whenever needed. Sometimes, a baby has low blood sugar on day 1, or mom hasn't enough milk on day 3, so the newborn must drink from a bottle. After the first 2 weeks, newborns should be very good breastfeeders, and should be able to drink from a bottle off and on without losing any breastfeeding skills or interest. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Portion size( minimum)for 1 yr old?Mine is fussy eater.I really struggle to feed him &how much water apart from milk(takes 4-5 breast feeds)
Normal: Water- a few ounces a day will be fine. Many toddlers are fussy eaters. I do not really worry about portion size if they are growing. Offer food three times a day. If child eats great, if not - it is his/her choice and will eat when hungry. Continue to offer and eventually will eat. Consider craniosacral therapy and chiropractic...It can help... ...Read more
On The Bottle Again?: If taken from the Ganges River I'd advise that you do. But most commercially bottled water is OK. My grandfather always boiled the tap water to get rid of the chlorine in it but as far as I know most bottled water doesn't have that, or fluoride in it. No harm in boiling it though, as long as it's body temperature or less when given to the baby. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Not specifically: This is an old myth that is perpetuated year to year. Iron given at therapeutic levels can cause constipation, but studies find no correlation with the level in formula. Infants may process one brand of formula slower or faster than another and any delay in emptying will lead to constipation. ...Read more

In canada we can start cows milk at 9 months.. I started giving my baby cows milk to substitute it gradually with breastmilk. Is cows milk ok?
Cow's Milk: Cow's milk is not recommended by the american academy of pediatrics for children under 1 year old. Infants fed whole cow's milk don't get enough vitamin e, iron, and essential fatty acids. They also get too much protein, sodium, and potassium. These levels may be too high for the infant's system to handle. Also, whole cow's milk protein and fat are more difficult for an infant to digest and absorb. ...Read more
Is it okay to feed ready- feed similac straight from refrigerator for a middle of night feed to 7.5 month old?
Yes: The practice of warming bottles goes back to the 50's or earlier when most people made their formula at home & boiled it to make it more digestible. It is not necessary. Most kids over 10 pounds do not need to eat in the night & if you cut the volume back slowly & don't feed at bedtime, the kid may resettle if they wake at night rather than cry for the feed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
3 week old baby eats 2.5oz of breast milk every 2-4 hrs, with 2-3 supplemental formula bottles included in her daily feedings. Is she eating enough?
Hard to say: If she's playful, interactive and starting to fill out it is likely enough.Having her weighed to see is also an option but once a week is often enough to monitor weight. Most at her age will put on at least an ounce a day. ...Read more
Baby food: Yes, most babies will tolerate grains like rice, wheat, and oats with formula as of 4 to 6 months as well as vegies and fruits. I suggest introducing foods with a test dose of one spoon the first day and then watching for any reaction over 24 hours. If none, i suggest giving as much as your baby wants. Thereafter. ...Read more
