I burned my leg on my bike exhaust almost 10 days ago, but it didn't heal up completely. I'm applying silverex cream. How else can I speed the healing process?
Stop silverex: If you wound is not infected than silverex may actually slow healing. All you may need is Bacitracin or aquaphor ointment with twice a day cleansings with a mild soap such as cetaphil. Any edema or swelling in the lower legs may also slow healing and wearing appropriate compression garments will help along with elevation when possible. Stop tobacco use. Expensive overkill: Sunburn is response of the tissues to injury from solar radiation. It is simply inflammation which means increase blood flow to the area to promote healing. Do not use ice as this can injure already injured skin. Cool water soaks can help as can taking anti-inflammation medicines like Motrin or advil (ibuprofen).
