Aggrevation +?: Persistent reflux is not comfortable - best to treat it for that reason alone. But best to see your physician to get evaluated to rule out gallbladder issues and to discuss other causes of reflux that might be curative or at least relief-achieving. LPR: Laryngopharyngeal reflux in my experience is not treated surgically and unfortunately may not respond to PPI medications like prilosec or nexium which are effective for GERD. Nevertheless they are worth trying. Consultations with a gastroenterologist and an Otolaryngologist may be helpful for more advice. ...Read more

Several: There are several diet changes that can help with reflux and some of this can depend greatly on the person. Some people will get reflux with certain foods that never bother many others. Would recommend you call your physician for general advice specific for you. Certainly can decrease tomato paste and acidic and spicy foods in the meantime as a trial. Liquid antacids work: If your problem genuinely is acid-related (e.g. Reflux, heartburn, peptic ulcer), then liquid antacids *have to* work. Simple chemistry (acid/base) dictates that this is the case. The base (antacid) neutralizes any excess acid, creating water and salts.
