Dr. Bahman Omrani answered:

Is constant pain in lumbar left side normal in 40th week of pregnancy? No signs of active labor. Pain doesn't allow for waking and sitting.

Not normal but seen

Labor
Constant back pain limiting basic activities of daily living (e.g. walking or sitting) isn't normal; not even at 40 week of pregnancy. The weight gain, the "basketball" & surge in hormone preparing pelvic bones for delivery may contribute to the problem. Constant severe activity limiting pain should be discussed with OB. C-section is considered as the condition may interfere w/ vaginal delivery.

I've been having real labor pain contractions for some weeks now. Dr. believes this is the week but they go away after an hour. What can I do?

Braxton-Hicks

Pain_in_right_upper_abdomen
What you are describing sounds like Braxton-Hicks contractions. They are common and normal. They can feel just like labor contractions, but because they go away, it is not labor. There is not much one can do, because they are a normal part of pregnancy. Hopefully real labor will come soon and congratulatons.

I go to hospital in 34 week than doctor says baby head is down Now i am 39 week pregnant but not Start labor pain can baby change position these days?

Breech

Rare to have the baby change from vertex to breech at 39 weeks. Not a lot of room for baby to move at this time except you have a lot of amniotic fluid around the baby which will expand or create a lot of room for baby to flip from head down to buttocks down. It is expected that labor pain will start anytime. If not after 41-42weeks most places in the USA will induce. Good luck

Dr. Alan Patterson answered:

i am having period like cramps and i am 36 weeks pregnant but when i go to labor and delivery thy say i am just dehydrated could it be real labor pain?

YOu should

Labor
be discussing this with YOUR OB !!!! the only way to tell is to get on monitor either in your Ob's offcie or the labor room, if u were my pt and u are not in labor I would offer to induce u at 39 weeks the earliest time it is acceptable to do an elective induction, I frequently do that and my pts are so happy they don't have to suffer any more, it is safe and works 99% of the time when I do it

Do labor contractions make you tired?

Yes.

They call it labor for a reason - it is not only painful, but also exhausting. Good hydration and adequate caloric intake throughout labor (by adding sugar to the intravenous fluids) helps along, as does a good epidural anesthesia.

What do labor contractions feel like?

Colicky pain.

Anesthesia
Lower abdominal and/or lower back pain that gradually peaks within half a minute, lasts for a few seconds and then gradually resolves within half a minute. In labor, they come every 2-5 minutes generally getting more severe as labor progresses. Epidural anesthesia is a highly recommended technique to help women through labor pains; natural methods do not suffice for 99% of women. No need to suffer

What are some labor pain management options?

TAP block, epidural

Labor itself can be relieved with an epidural or combined spinal epidural. Pain of a cesarean section can also be relieved by above or with a Transversus abdominis plane block (TAP block)
