Maybe: Sometimes when women are in early labor they will experience uncomfortable menstrual-like cramps with a little diarrhea. Diarrhea from other causes, like something you ate, can also cause cramping that can feel the same. Monitor for contractions that happen every 5 to 10 minutes and are starting to take your breath away or your water breaking. Call your doctor if you are not sure. ...Read more

Not necessarily: These are not the usual signs of labor. But if you arent drinking you can get dehydrated and cause false contractions. It does sound like you are close since you are dilated to 5 cm. Diarrhea: Diarrhea is not a typical sign that labor is going to come soon. It is common in pregnancy through as are many other gastrointestinal changes. If it does not resolve then see your doctor for stool testing. Early signs of labor are contractions every 5 min for at least an hour. ...Read more

Contractions: Please call your OB as your OB is supposed to explain what to look for as far as labor , contractions , rupture of membranes, etc, and when to call, and you should have taken prenatal classes which explains all of that to you, esp helpful for 1 st time moms. ...Read more

In : In a situation like this where you are unsure about going to the hospital, you should call the doctor's office. There will be a doctor or nurse on call that can tell you what to do based on how far along you are, your level of pain, and the frequency and duration of your contractions.
