Not necessarily: These are not the usual signs of labor. But if you arent drinking you can get dehydrated and cause false contractions. It does sound like you are close since you are dilated to 5 cm. There will be a doctor or nurse on call that can tell you what to do based on how far along you are, your level of pain, and the frequency and duration of your contractions. Not normal but seen: Constant back pain limiting basic activities of daily living (e.g. Walking or sitting) isn't normal; not even at 40 week of pregnancy. The weight gain, the "basketball" & surge in hormone preparing pelvic bones for delivery may contribute to the problem. Constant severe activity limiting pain should be discussed with ob.
