Signs Of Teething 4 Month Old
Our almost 4 month old son has recently started putting his fingers so far into his mouth that he ends up gagging. No signs of teeth. .. Normal?
That is very common: You probably will see a whole hand/fist in his mouth some day, and when he gets a hold of his foot, it may end up in his mouth as well. It is very common and so don't go crazy. It is harmless--virtually all babies do that to some extent. Enjoy the baby. He is priceless. Good luck. ...Read more

Drooling, teeth: While drooling and pain can certainly occur, many other commonly reported issues, like diaper rash, fevers, and diarrhea, are not due to teething. These are common problems in infants and toddlers but are not caused by teething. Teething can be expected to produce.. . Teeth. My 4 month old recently started teething and is getting flushed cheeks on and off throughout the day. Are these related?
No: I have a difficult time believing that "teething" is a real or common issue. It is a convenient label to put on vague and unimportant symptoms in infants. I would continue to monitor baby day to day, and bring issues up with the doc when it bothers you. I can't link this symptom with anything specific. ...Read more
How do I tell if my almost 4-month old daughter is teething early or just going through a fussy, chew-on-everything phase?
Swollen gums: To determine if your child is teething look inside her mouth on the lower front gums nearest the tongue. At this age these are the first teeth to come in. If she is teething this area will be slightly redened and slightly swollen. You may even see a whitish area. And from the sound of things she seems to be teething. ...Read more
I can be hard to determine the exact cause of an infants symptoms... It might be related to teething or it might be a cold. Please monitor your child closely and give palliative care:
1. Cold compresses
2. Children's tylenol (acetaminophen) per the label's directions.
3. Maintain hydration.
4. Call your pediatrician if the fever increases or persists for more than 3 days. ...Read more

My 4 month old spits up a lot and poops 4x a day. His temp is 98.2 f but his head feels hot. This started 4 days ago. Formula fed. Maybe teething?
My 4 month old baby is bring really fussy and butting on his fingers and crying most of the day is this teething how soon for his first tooth?
Concur: Dr schneider is absolutely correct. 2 other pieces of advice: 1) never put your child to bed with a bottle containing anything but water 2)1st dental check-up age 1. Would advise seeing a pediatric dental specialist for all the same reasons you take your child to a pediatric medical specialist. ...Read more
Is it normal for a 4 month old to have a 100.9 fever while teething? My 4 month old baby just got her first 2 teeth in about a week ago. But today she has been acting really irritable and checked her rectal temperature and it was 100.9. Could this be a ca
A little high: 100.9 is a little high. May be teething, but more probably a cold. Ck w pediatrician. And see a pediatric dentist no later than 1st b'day. 2 or 3 is late. You need to talk to pedodontist about care of baby teeth, diet, hygiene, growth and development of teeth and jaws, Fluoride (remember, permanent teeth are already forming), and so many other things. And your child & the dr can bond. ...Read more
My 4 month old son is very fussy and keeps grabbing his right ear. Is this teething or an ear infection? No fever, just very fussy and won't sleep
4 month old is all the sudden fussy and eating a LOT more than normal. What could this be? Teeth?
Growth Spurt: The process of teething can start around this time, but in general this is associated with some decrease in feeding. A baby with fussiness that resolves with a meal, and seems to be feeding suddenly more than usual, is probably going through a four month growth spurt. If you are nursing, go to bed with baby for a day and just nurse as often as you can! ...Read more
Depends on your def: Most pediatricians recommend not starting solid foods until closer to 6 mo, and of course starting with rice cereal. Starting with rice cereal between 4-6 mo is acceptable, and stage I foods at 6 mo. Table foods, which are typical "solids" are not indicated until closer to 9 mo. And choking hazards are always an issue. No matter how many teeth, there probably won't be any chewing until 12 mo or so. ...Read more
Not likely: Early childhood caries is usually caused by too much sugary foods and drink. Putting infants to bed with a bottle of juice or milk will cause decay also. It is good to brush the child's teeth or wipe the gums with a wash cloth if teeth aren't erupted yet. A little bit of ice cream every now and then is fine. ...Read more
Does teething cause boils on the head? My 4 months old daughter has temperature on the head and boils as well
My 16 week old is teething & drooling a lot and has had a stuffy nose/slight cough for 2 days. Could these be related?
No. Nasal congestion: & cough are symptoms of a viral upper respiratory illness. Teething does not cause fever, diarrhea or any other symptoms not related to the gums, although some babies have pain & irritability. Drooling at 4 months does not necessarily mean a baby is teething, just that the salivary glands are beginning to function. The central lower incisors usually erupt first, around 6 months. ...Read more
