Would a D&C be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? And if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?

Would a D&C be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? And if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?

Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn." A sad situation and I feel for her.
She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible. The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth. This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection. ...Read more

Hello, I am 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Last Thursday my OB said I was 3 cm dilated and 83% effaced. When will labor start?

Good question: labor is marked by regular contractions that occur every 5-10 mins on a regular basis with dilation of the cervix. Your cervix is favorable and once your contractions pick up the intensity and frequency, you can consider yourself to be in labor. Patience is key. It may take a day or a week but the importance is to let your body do it on its own. ...Read more

Category C: It is a category c drug animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks. I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have had clear jelly like discharge twice today and more frequent bm's. Could I be going into labor? A lot of back pain is coming too?

Maybe: It sounds like there is more pressure on your cervix this morning. It doesn't mean you will go into labor. You need to rest and drink a lot of water. Any: Any vaginal bleeding during pregnancy is abnormal and should be evaluated by your ob/gyne or midwife immediately. You should call them right away since it could be something serious such as a placental abruption which can put you and your baby at risk. Being sent home from the l&d might be frustrating, but would be a good thing in the end since that would mean that you and the baby are healthy and fine. ...Read more

I'm 38 weeks pregnant, will a exercise ball help me go into labor? What are the chances of a membrane stripping at 39 weeks work also.

Bouncing can help: You could also do pretend jump roping for a total of 60 minutes a day in 10 minute sessions. Eating eggplant can be a help. Stripping membranes is not a good idea unless the cervix is effaced completely and beginning to dilate since it can cause rupture of the membranes and a need to deliver in 24 hours to prevent infection. ...Read more
