When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Early contractions: You will probably feel the baby "drop" which means it is getting lower in the pelvis, in preparation for childbirth. You probably will have intermittent contractions, known as Braxton-Hicks contractions, again in preparation for childbirth. As the time draws nearer to delivery the contractions will become stronger and more frequent.
Clear water drops and one time small fresh blood spot period like cramping is it labor or something else at 38 weeks pregnancy?
Obgyn evaluation: You will need to contact your Obgyn to arrange an evaluation. Since you are near term you will need to make sure you did not break your water. You could just be dilating and passing your mucous plug. An evaluation will be needed to determine what is going on.
I am 38 weeks pregnant as of nov. 23 2012. This is my 3rd son, I had all of the other two at 28 and 31 weeks. What are signs that labor is near?
Possibly: These could be braxton-hicks contractions, a tightening of the uterine muscles for one to two minutes and are thought to be an aid to the body in its preparation for birth. At 38 weeks the duration of pregnancy itself may be an indication that labor could be soon. Good luck and have a great baby.See 1 more doctor answer
38 weeks pregnant 5cm dilated feeling nausiated and haven't eaten or drank much all day. Is this a sign I could be going to labor soon?
I am 38 weeks pregnant and I've been having consistent lower back pain but more than 5 minutes apart is that an early sign of labor? What should I do?
Call Your OB: You should have instructions given you by your OB on when and how to get in contact with them.
Could be...: If the back cramps become regular and progressively stronger, these symptoms would be compatible with labor. Start timing, lay back and relax in between. If the pain is continuous and not intermittent like early labor, then you need more urgent evaluation as this would not be normal at this point and could point to a problem.
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and my stomach gets really hard but I don't feel cramping is it a sign of labor?

I've been having a milky white discharge on my liner when I check my pants before toilet, I'm 38 weeks pregnant, is this a sign of labour?
38 weeks pregnant and no signs of labour. Cervix completely closed and baby still not engaged. Does this increase my chances of c section?
No: Lots can happen in two weeks! This does not increase your chance!
Not relevant: When we are checking blood counts during pregnancy, assuming that the basic counts related to hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets are normal for pregnancy, then we really do not spend too much time looking at these individual parameters related to red blood cells. If there is a more specific problem being asked, please ask!
Normal: Mucus discharge in pregnancy is very inconsistent. Sometimes there is a lot and sometimes there isn't. Both are normal. Best wishes!
Would a D&C be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? And if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?
Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn." A sad situation and I feel for her. She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible. The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth. This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection.
Am in my 38 weeks pregnancy and 4 days. My blood pressure was in the noon 149/68 and heart rate 114 is it nessicary to go to hospital and be paranoid.
Call OB: You are not being paranoid. But, it sounds like you do not understand what to do in this type of situation. Please contact or page your OB and give them your situation and vital signs. They will tell you what they want you to do next.
I am 38 weeks pregnant with my first child and was checked today I'm 2cm 50% effaced. How long does it normally take after this point for labor?
Labor, onset: It is difficult to pinpoint a time labor will ensue. In the United States most places will deliver you between 41 and 42 weeks if your pregnancy is progressing well and labor has not started. If you are 38 weeks you are definitely close to delivery. Hang in there. See you doctor regularly. Good luck.
Pregnant: Very likely yes. CongratsGet a more detailed answer ›
