Surgical hernia: Talk to your surgeon. Although the laprascopic procedure is less invasive, it still is a penetration into the abdominal cavity. This can cause aweakness in the fascia which lines your abdomen. There are other processes, granuloma, neuroma that could cause the symptom.

Infection (Definition)

Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more

I had an infection after laparoscopic surgery. It was treated and went away but it has returned. Could this cause fUrther problems?

Depends: If this was a skin only infection it will probably not cause any more problems. If the deep tissue (fascia) was infected it's possible you could end up with a hernia down the line. If the infection was in the abdomen, abdominal adhesions and small bowel obstruction are a risk, but not guaranteed problem.

Please specify: Where is your infection, where is your pain, and where is your leakage? Does your surgeon think these events are related to your appendectomy?

FROM WHERE: If you are having a leakage from your laprascopic incision that is not normal need to check with the surgeon that did your surgery very unlikely it is surgery related unless there is a foreign body trying to come out that your body does not like, for example sutures that did not absorb completely if I was your surgeon I want to know about it.

I had a laparoscopic surgery 2 weeks ago and my belly button incision hasn't healed, it is white but no infection. What should I do for it to heal?

Need To Be Seen: A small amount of drainage is not uncommon at the belly button following laparoscopic surgery. However, a superficial infection is possible. Common signs include redness, drainage, and tenderness. This diagnosis requires hands-on evaluation by your surgeon--schedule a follow-up appointment as soon as possible.

I had laparoscopic surgery 2.5mths ago for ectopic pregnant followed by shot of mtx. Can mtx cause weak immunity or viral infections due to low immunity?

Not likely: It's unlikely that one dose of Methotrexate will lead to a significant change in your immune response to cause an infection. More importantly, if you had a laparoscopic procedure to remove the ectopic pregnancy, you shouldn't have needed the Methotrexate shot which is reserved for patients that opt for medical treatment instead of surgery.

Laparoscopic surgery 8 weeks ago/no complications. My incision in belly button started to sting when moving today. No fever or infection. What's up?

Laparoscopic surgery 8 weeks ago/no complications. My incision in belly button started to sting when moving today. No fever or infection. What's up?

Nerves: Often, when cutting through skin and tissue such as during a surgery, the nerves in the skin, tissues, and muscles can become damaged. The tingling sensation may be caused by your nerves regrowing and healing. Scar discomfort and numbness is relatively common in the first year or so post-operative. It may take some time before you no longer feel this but is not something to worry too much about.

How do I know if I need nissen fundoplication laparoscopic surgery?

How do I know if I need nissen fundoplication laparoscopic surgery?

See a Surgeon: Basically, if you have documented reflux disease either by history or testing such as egd or ph probe test, then fundoplication can be considered. Medications can help with reflux, however if you are young or the risk of surgery is minimal, the fundoplication can keep you from needing to take medications for your lifetime. If medications don't work, then surgery can be considered.

I'm due for laparoscopic surgery to remove a large cyst, how long will I need off work? I work at a day care centre

Post OP: If the surgery is all laparoscopic and no need to go in, the recovery time should be relatively short. Discuss with your surgeon of course, I would guess probably two weeks out of work.

I had an emergency appendectomy 4 days ago, via laparoscopic surgery. When can I resume physical activity including gym workouts?

Ask your surgeon: Best to ask your surgeon. Usually wait at least 2 weeks before heavy activities, but each surgeon has their own recommendations. Usually a person is given instructions from the hospital at discharge too.

Can I fly after laparoscopic surgery?

How long ago: Was your surgery? Was it yesterday or 6 weeks ago? Were there any complications? The easiest thing to do would be to call your surgeon and ask when you could fly.

When can I go back to school after get laparoscopic surgery?

When can I go back to school after get laparoscopic surgery?

Depends: I would assume this is laparoscopy of the pelvis. Some can return the next day, but most will wait two to three days before returning to school. It all depends upon how well you feel. Don't lift anything above ten pounds until a week has past to allow the incisions to heal.
