Unlikely: Posture is not likely to be the problem. It may be related to hyperacidity, hiatal hernia or other GI problem. You should definitely see a GI doctor and have this assessed since it may be as simple as having helicobacter pylori infection treated with antibiotics. Good luck and feel better soon. ...Read more

No: GERD does not cause black stools. But if you have taken Peptobismol, it can turn stool black. If you didn't take that, then you will need to see your primary care doctor soon. But if you are having several black stools and feeling lightheaded or dizzy, then you will need to go to an emergency room as it maybe a sign that you are bleeding in the bowels. ...Read more

Tough: Dysphagia is usually a problem with a neurologic cause. It is difficulty in swallowing to the point the person may aspirate in any of the phases of swallowing. Globus is a problem with swallowing that is usually thought to be psychogenic in origin and is made worse by stress and anxiety. Re the GERD, see your doctor again and at your age you may not need an EGD. Ask the doctor why no endoscopy. ...Read more
