Im 35 yrs of age and diagnose with septated cyst between the spleen and upper pole of the left kidney is it too bad and need to undergo operation?

Im 35 yrs of age and diagnose with septated cyst between the spleen and upper pole of the left kidney is it too bad and need to undergo operation?

CYST: The size and presummed origin of the cyst determine the nature of the problem. A septation places it into a different category if it's from the kidney but it is still very likely to be benign and unlikely to cause symptoms unless it grows. The key is the thickness of the wall and if there is blood flow or calcifications seen in the walls or septum. These are in a more serious category. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with mono two months ago. Since then my spleen aches whenever i go to class. It is a bad idea to go to new york in three weeks?

Mononucleosis: Gen. Guidelines for treatment include rest, non-caffeinated drinks, anti-inflammatories, avoidance of strenuous exercise or contact sports (these would increase the risk of splenic rupture.) you could return to moderate training if there is no fever, no enlargement of the spleen, and if the liver function tests are normal. In general, after four weeks strenuous activity is allowed. ...Read more

2yrs old has a bad cough low fever took him to dr they say spleen inflamed but just a cold he's not eating but is drinking all he wants to do sleep?

COUGH, LOW GRADE: Fever, diminished appetite are signs of viral infection. I assume, the pediatrician mentioned some inflammation of 'lung', not spleen. As long as he is drinking well, not to worry. If not better in 5-7 days, or any worsening, check with the pediatrician. Tip: to get more accurate answer, mention country/ city/region/race, etc. (splenic enlargement is common in sickle cell disease/african race, etc). ...Read more

My brain is feeling cold and it is throbbing really bad and also my left side where my spleen is located, is having a huge amount of pain?

Not sure: Its difficult to figure out what is wrong just based on those two symptoms. One possibility that comes so mind is mononuclesosis (aka mono). This could give you cold like symptoms and may affect the spleen also. Go see a doctor if you don't feel better soon. ...Read more

I am having very extremely bad stabbing pains under my left rib where my spleen is located. What do I do? When i bend forward to pick up something, (this leaves my tummy in a bunched up position). Right under my left rib the pain is stabbing and so bad

It : It sounds like you are having severe pain from this, so you need to be seen immediately by your doctor. Pain under your left rib can be caused by a problem with your lung, such as pleurisy, blood clots, or collapsed lung; it can be caused by stomach causes such as your spleen (rare), kidney problems, pancreas or intestinal problems, and it can even be caused by musculo-skeletal problems (problems with the muscles or the ribs). Please see your doctor. If your doctor cannot see you right away or if you have fever, shortness of breath, vomiting, or feel light-headed, then you will have to go to the er. ...Read more

I had a CT in dec showed enlarged spleen, had another this week & the spleen is now even larger.Appt w/dr not for 3wks.Feeling bad. What can I do?

Depends: I hope you will be able to find help soon. Is this perceived delay in doctor appointment due to insurance arrangments? If not, can you see another doctor? Have you had any blood work done? Do you have symptoms such as pain or bruising that may require urgent care that may necessitate a visit to the er. If you can't wait, i would suggest to call your doctor and ask for a quicker referral/appt. ...Read more

Can a bad gallbladder have a connection to an enlarged spleen? Hida: gallbladder is not working and u/s says that my spleen index is 900 too.CBC OK.

Not usually,: but there are uncommon conditions such as hereditary spherocytosis which can result in gallstones and splenomegaly. Also, viral inflammatory processes could potentially affect gallbladder function and also cause an enlarged spleen. But in any case, it is not the gallbladder problem that is causing the enlarged spleen, it is a separate process causing both. Of course, they may also be unrelated. ...Read more
