Not likely the cause: Typically ovarian cysts don't cause bleeding unnless they rupture or get twisted onto their own tubes etc...Light bleeding after sex is quite common for those having a male partner who is a bit on the long-side--repetitious trauma of the penis pushing/thrushing on the cervix which can bleed a bit. Obgyn: Without knowing the details it is hard to comment. Perhaps you are being seen in the ER and not in an office by an obgyn. If so schedule a visit in the office with an Obgyn (our office is close to you) so that you can be properly evaluated. ...Read more

An : An ovarian cyst should not cause a false negative on a hpt, however there are other causes. These includs: testing too early error when performing the test not reading the result when directed, i.e. Waiting too long to read the result my advice would be to repeat the test if your period does not start in another week or so, or you can have one done in your doctor's office sooner.
