Stroke vs TIA: Stroke really refers to a neurological event where this is sign of damage. A tia, is a transient stroke like episode where studies are often normal. A bit unusual to have a "stroke" and not see anything on mri, but certainly not impossible. Might miss signs of damage on a ct scan. Depends: The issue here is how much intensive care your 92 year old mother wants to undergo. This is always a difficult decision since however much you are a realist and know that everyone dies, it is always difficult to let go. If the speech is changing in clarity and appropriateness and you want care, call her doctor. Nurses may or may not transmit this info to her doctors, or may or may not care. ...Read more
