Nail : Nail bed infections are called paronychia (try pronouncing that one) and they happen when the skin and soft tissue next to the nail bed get infected from a break in the skin. They are usually caused by staph and strep which are common skin contaminants. When they stay localized to the nail bed then hot soaks and some over the counter antibiotic ointment works well. However when you start to feel pain in the arm and up into the lymph nodes under the arm , then physicians worry about "blood poisoning" or spread of the bacterial infection from the nail bed into the lymph system. So that's a doctor visit and i wouldn't wait too long to be seen. Doubt it's related to your thyroid cancer however. ...Read more

Pigmented lesion: Melanoma can occur at a young age, so having an odd looking, multicolored, or irregularly pigmented lesion seen and removed is worthwhile.
