How does one go about submitting an app to healthtap for evaluation and inclusion in the list. This is a cbt app for managing stress and anxiety?
In the state of Texas, is it legal for a 17 year old to visit his primary care doctor and have an insurance card ready with him at the visit?
Want to consult with a doc, however healthtap cs is non existant. No answer via email or phone in 2 days?! - what is a text consult? how long is it?
Up to both parties: how long. In my experience, most using this website seem to prefer the txt format; more flexible, though without potential benefits of 2-way video, possibly helpful for a few issues. If you had already paid for service yet not received a good response, best to contact Healthtap customer service personnel at: https://healthtap.desk.com/customer/portal/emails/new and carefully explain the problems. ...Read more
My doctor charged $45 for a 5-min preventive health phone call. For 50 more I could have had a Fitbit and used healthtap. Why is the healthcare system so lopsided?
Lopsided-understated: Health care today is lopsided capitalism at it's worst. The financial meltdown of 2008 is going to look like a bad walk in the park compared to the devastation to both financial and human capital that our bipolar society is heading for. Unless there is entire new course (the current system is irreparable). I call it 'the changing of the gods'. Not sure when i'll get to write that book either. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is there a common data base or a platform for doctors to talk, search and share medical events and sicknesses worldwide?
Good question: Most of the best data bases of information are set up by the different societies. The databases of information are linked to the literature. Thus, there may be a short description of a particular topic with references that link to pubmed. As far as a forum for questions, there are chat rooms or interactive live web discussions for particular topics and exchange of ideas. ...Read more

Is it legal and/or ethical for a doctor's office to have a wall of political propaganda in the waiting room?
It's legal: I agree. Unless the doctor works for the va/goverment office, it's legal for him/her to decorate whatever he wants in his own medical facility. That being said, it's unprofessional and could make patients uneasy. Politics and religion can evoke very strong feeling in people and it's best to leave those outside a medical office. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Can a dr recommend some sort of meetings for people getting divorced or dealing with and gone through a divorce. Somewhere in Staten Island please?
What are some symptoms/complaints that would be an "automatic admission" to the hospital for a Female in her mid 30's. This is for research?
Suicidal ideation: Is one example. Or attempted suicide. This is a pretty long (or short) list depending upon which hospital and what setting. Example, is there a bioterror or infectious disease concern? Active tuberculosis? History of unintentional drug overdose? Active labor? Preeclampsia? Stroke or pulmonary embolism? Frankly, this is an odd question and it makes me wonder about malingering (google that). ...Read more
Looking for doctor's dealing with intermittent explosive disorder in adults with downs' syndrome. Numerous meds./counseling-no help. Where can we go?
Tough situation: My guess is that this will require a careful look at the overall health status, current meds, and neurological examination. Adults with ds do sometimes suffer gradual neurodegeneration, which can be manifest in dysfunctional behavior. But ied may just be the way a ds individual expresses frustration about something more mundane. Look for a neurologist with training in both peds and adult medicine. ...Read more
Rogers AR genetic: Most of my patients that are from that area will go to Highlands oncology. There are many oncologists in their office and I'm sure one of them has a great interest in genetic testing. Testing can be a can of worms.
