I had a partial sigmoid colectomy ten months ago, diverticulitis symptoms gone. Still have chronic llq pain. Lifting left leg causes pain.
I had a sigmoid colectomy in Aug 2015 for recurrent diverticulitis--completely unremarkable surgery and recovery...except, I keep losing weight! I?

I had a sigmoid colectomy two years ago with almost 14 inches taken out due to too many bouts of diverticulitis. After a ct scan today I was told I ha?

Is it possible for diverticulitis to cause pain on the right side if I've already had a partial colectomy?
What do you suggest if my husband had a partial colectomy a month ago due to diverticulits. But now he is having internal hemmorhoids?
He should talk: With his surgeon and determine what is causing his hemorrhoid flare. Usually his surgery should not be a cause of hemorrhoid flare unless he has been constipated or having frequent diarrhea due to his surgery. Again his surgeon should be notified and evaluate your husband
My husband had a partial colectomy a month ago due to diverticulits. But now he is having internal hemmorhoids. Could these be related?
No: He probably had the hemorrhoids before, but without symptoms. He probably was taking pain killer that will make him constipated, which can make the hemorrhoids to enlarged and cause pain with occasional bleeding. He should contact his surgeon and be evaluated.
I need to have sigmoid resection due to stricture from diverticulitis, I would like to know the chances of stricture coming back after operation?
Follow up Sigmoid coscopy after diverticulitis showed stricture in the colon. Is it possible to be treated with out surgery if it's not bothering me?
Will get worse: Have it resected laproscopically ASAP before it obstructsSee 1 more doctor answer
I have history of sigmoid diverticulitis, and lately Ihave been experiencing some tenderness on the right, is it possible it's coming from the sigmoid?
Diverticulitis: Diverticula can also occur on the right, although it is less common. Also, the pain from diverticulitis is sometimes shifted to the opposite side.
I have large diverticuli in the sigmoid, I don't have diverticulitis but I experience tenderness in lower part is that possible from large diverticuli?
Yes: Diverticulosis, can hurt, not from inflammation like diverticulitis, but from bowel spasms. A lot of people would see changes in their bowel habits and sigmoid anatomy before actual diverticuli appear. You may also have diverticulitis with minimal infection, that did not cause abscess but still causing inflammation and pain.
Had diverticulitis in June and just had colonoscopy today. Paper says I have Erythematosus mucosa. In sigmoid. A biopsy was done. IS this something that occurs when you get diverticulitis?
Can you have a lot of sigmoid lymph nodes swell up if diagnosed with diverticulitis with a ct scan?
Absolutely: Often diverticulitis has a chronic element, which allows adenopathy. Earlier (acute) signs are the "misty mesentery" &/or smudged pericolonic fat which is inflammatory change in the fatty tissue that suspends the sigmoid. Also we look for free fluid and esp. Free air (perforation). Care must be taken to exclude inflammatory change near a cancer so F/U scan/colonoscopy is often done after a while.
I'm still in a lot of pain after having laproscopic sigmoid colon surgery, then a hematoma. Why, and how long could this go on? I had the surgery for diverticulitis, it's been 2 weeks after surgery and 4 days ago he drained the hematoma, I am in a lot of
Standard: Standard recommendations for the performance of laparoscopic sigmoidectomy in patients with diverticulitis include patients who have complications of the disease or have had numerous, severe disease episodes. Laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy for diverticulitis has demonstrated benefits with regard to operative blood loss, postoperative pain, length of hospital stay, morbidity and mortality compared with open surgical techniques. In either open or laparoscopic sigmoidectomy, the major complications include: leakage and/or stricture at the anastomosis (connecting the two ends of the colon), abscess, and bleeding (hematoma). The symptoms associated with the hematoma depend on its size and location. It is possible that the hematoma is compressing surrounding tissues or organs causing pressure symptoms, or if pressing on a nerve, can also cause neuralgias or pain. If you are still having symptoms after drainage of the hematoma, you may want to see your surgeon again to have a ct scan done to make sure that the hematoma has been drained and that there are not other reasons (such as infection) for presistent pain or gastrointestinal symptoms.See 1 more doctor answer
I have been dealing w sigmoid diverticulitis and last few days I have been experiencing low center stomach pain after urination can this be related?
Probably NOT: Sounds more like PROSTATE irritation. Just a thought! Dr Z
I'm recovering from diverticulitis started on miralax (polyethylene glycol) & fiber. I am pooping 3-4 times a day & hurts sigmoid sometimes is this natural?
Yes: The multiple stools are likely from the fiber and miralax (polyethylene glycol). The pain from the initial occurance may linger for several days. As long as it continues to improve, I would not worry. If any fever, vomiting, or worsening pain, I would consult with you physician.See 1 more doctor answer
Friend had ct scan diverticulitis, no symptoms feels great. Bowel thickening, possible sigmoid abscess. Could ct scan be wrong? Needs colonoscopy.
The colonoscopy will: Let the GI guy see what's inside. Thickening can be from scaring from diverticulitis or hopefully nothing more serious.
Could this be adhesions and what can be done to stop the pain? Painful 2 year old incision after colectomy. Ct scan and upper and lower GI show no problems besides diverticulosis.
First ct scan diverticulitis thought he had fistula. Second Ct scan radiologist said no fistula bowel thickening maybe sigmoid abscess ct be wrong?
Not necessarily: The interpretation of the same ct scan can be changed according to the clinical picture. The clinical picture has support the ct scan and until it would the reading of the ct scan can change. So, it is a fluid situation, it is not rigid. Reading of the ct has to match the clinical condition of the person. I hope this helps.
