What are the risks and side effects of uterine embolisation for fibroids?

Can it shut down ovarian function and trigger menopause?

Rarely: Overall, the risk of complications from uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is quite low. Infection is the most serious risk, sometimes requiring hysterectomy. There is a small risk of premature menopause, seemingly higher in women over 40. It is probably more difficult to get pregnant after UFE. But overall it is an effective, safe procedure for symptomatic fibroids. ...Read more

Is the hCG diet safe? I bought drops but am scared of side effects. I have ovarian cysts and heard hCG can turn them cancerous? Is this true?

It's silly stuff: The 'hcg diet' is an 800-calorie severely restrictive diet and this is why you lose weight. The overpriced placebo that is tacked on will probably do nothing. Further, HCG does not turn ovarian cysts cancerous. Why not take the money and join a fitness club, make friends, and embark on a far happier and less fear-darkened life? Cheers. ...Read more

As long as the one Fallopian tube is patent(open) "natural" conception is possible. If the tube is closed, assisted reproductive technologies like IVF (in vitro fertilization) are needed. ...Read more
