Actually no...: Patient Controlled Epidural Anesthesia (PCEA) is an excellent method to deliver local and narcotic anesthesia at the spinal cord levels involved in the procedure. Laying on one side or the other will tend to accumulate the anesthetic over time to the side you are laying on so you will want to lay flat.
