Er: Your friend should go to the nearest ER
Need Blood Tests: Thyronorm is Synthetic thyroid hormone available in india under this name manufactured by Abbot Lab. You were probably prescribed for Hypothyroidism, a thyroid condition where the gland in not producing enough Thyroxin. When you are on this medicine you need to check your blood test for the level of THS, T3&T4 at least /yearly&follow up with Doctor if the dose needs adjustment. If test good no bad effe
I have hypothyroid and I am taking thyronorm 100 MCG now (starter with 25 MCG 5 y ago). What would be long time side effects?
I was just diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism & my TSH was 16.33. How severe is that? I was prescribed Synthroid (thyroxine) 25 mcg but am still feeling side effects of hypo
If you have: Hypothyroidism, it is much more dangerous not to take it. Every medication has side effects, and your doctor has determined that this medication provides you with more benefits than risks.
I had an overdosage of thyronorm 88mcg accidentally. I had one befor breakfast and one after it. Will it have any side effects?
Hypothyroidisim: You have profound under active Thyroid. You need the Thyroid replacement Medication. You should start feeling beeter soon. Stay with your Doctor. Have your TSH checked every 6-8 weeks, untill it is in the normal range. I like to keep my patients TSH about 1-2, & certainly below 5. Don't worry about side effects. Embrace feeling better
Sir Is side effects of taking thyronorm is applicable only when overdosage is consumed or severe side effects is applicable also for regular intake?
It is thyroid hormon: And the level of it needs to be adjusted. The doses it comes in are the most common replacement thyroid hormone levels seen. BUT what level / dose a particular patient needs has to be adjusted. Often with checking the blood levels of thyroid hormones. A regular dose of thyroid for one patient is too much for others.
Hyperthyroid: Too much Levoxyl (thyroxine) can give you the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Most importantly it can cause osteoporosis. You can have a rapid heart rate, tremor, diarrhea, hair loss, elevated blood pressure, anxiety and weight loss among others. It is important if you are on this medication to see your doctor regularly and check your thyroid levels.
There are none: Synthroid (thyroxine) is a man-made replacement for your own thryroid hormone. There are no side effects per se because the drug will bind to the same receptors that your thyroid hormone binds to so the body does not use the drug as a synthetic. It is possible to take too much Synthroid (thyroxine) and then have effects of excess thyroid like rapid heart beat.See 4 more doctor answers
My TSH is 8.33. Started taking thyronorm 50mcg since one week. Are there any side effects of that?
Unlikely: That is a small dose and seems appropriate as a treatment for hypothyroidism. Most important is to follow up in a few months to see what the labs look like on this dose.
None: If the dose is appropriate, there should be no side effects of thyroid hormone replacement. The body does not differentiate a normal amount of thyroid hormone coming from your thyroid gland or from a pill.
Likely none: B"sd thyronorm 25 mg, you mean 25 mcg - is L-thyroxine also know as T4. It is one of the 2 important thyroid hormones in the blood. T4 replacement is the standard therapy for hypothyroidism, which is quite reliably indicated by your mildly elevated TSH. Dose of T4 titrated usually every 2 months with my usual "target" TSH is around 1.0.
When TSH is low: People who take thyroxine for simple hypothyroidism should have normal TSH to be safe. They should not loose weight, unless their prior weight gain was due to hypothyroidism. Taking too much thyroxine can cause atrial fibrillation and osteoporosis. On the other hand people with thyroid cancer are sometimes given a slight excess of thyroxine to prevent the cancer from returning.
Theoretically: This is medication used to treat hypothyroid or thryoid replacement. Usually taken first thing in morning without other medications. If thyroid levels are up too high, can see insomnia. Usually the medication itself does not cause significant degree of insomnia.See 1 more doctor answer
Thyroid treatment: 25 mcg of levothyroxine is a very low dose; a normal dose for hypothyroidism is typically much higher. The only side effect is taking too much (hyperthyroidism: palpitations, sweating, tremor, etc) or not taking enough (hypothyroid: fatigue, cold, etc). But such symptoms can be from other things. You need to get levels checked and talk to the doctor who initially prescribed this.See 1 more doctor answer
My TSH is 8.33. And I have started taking thyronorm 50mcg since one week. What are the side effects of that medicine?
I have to stop taking Synthroid (thyroxine) for a thryroid scan test. What are the side effects, I have been on medication for 8 years?
Fatigue: Main symptom would likely be fatigue. May get constipated, palpitations, restless feelings, being grumpy. But if u'r doc ordered I strongly suggest u follow up. It's only a week, and u may not even experience much.See 1 more doctor answer
My 4 year old took 8 of my 200mcg synthroid (thyroxine). The p.A.-c said it would not bother him. But I am still worried. Is there instant side effects or longer?
Overdose: Call poison control right now. They will calculate how much he got according to his weight and they will tell you what you need to do and what symptoms he/she may have. Any time your child takes medications not prescribed for him/her always call poison control right away. The number should be in the front of your phone book.
