Side Effects Of The Nexplanon Implant
Nexplanon implant for over a year no bleeding no side effects. Until I started adipex. Could the adipex stir things up and make the implant fail?
Recently had a Jadelle implant put in (5 months ago) after using an Implanon for six years. I am getting much more obvious side effects should I swap?
Implanon/nexplanon: Theoretically any symptoms you had with implanon will be the same with nexplanon. Having said that the symptoms you describe are side effects of progesterone only contraception such as the nexplanon. The symptoms are therefore expected side effects. Speak to your doctor. Perhaps there is another equally effective for you contraceptive. Maybe the nuvaring or OCPs if remembering daily meds is ok. ...Read more
Yes: Many women are very happy with implanon. The most common side effect is abnormal bleeding, sometimes unscheduled or unpredictable bleeding and sometimes no bleeding at all. This bothers some women more than others. Other less common se include headache, weight gain, breast tenderness, nausea, or mood swings. ...Read more
I've been on the POP for 4 packs and have had good luck as far as side effects and bleeding. Would I likely have a similar experience with Nexplanon?
Maybe: The most common side-effect of Nexplanon is irregularly irregular periods which can remain so for the entire 3 years. There is no way to say whether or not your experience with progestin only oral contraceptives would predict your likelihood of having the same experience with Nexplanon. Hope this helps. ...Read more
Currently have nexplanon The weight gain side effects are too much. I have 2 bio kids and 4 step looking for a perm BC so tubal ligation or essure?
On depo, want to try nexplanon. Same side effects? Do I have to wait until I'm off Depo-Provera to try a new birth control?
I've been on the nexplanon implant for 6 months my doctor recommended it for me because I am overweight. Should I be looking out for effects?
Not really: Usually the implants have few side effects because they are a measured release of hormones on a daily basis rather than a burst when the med is taken. Breast soreness and light or absent periods possible. ...Read more
How likely is it to get pregnant while you have the birth control implant? Also what effects do anti depressants have on nexplanon?
No effect of SSRIs: The birth control implant (Implanon/Nexplanon) is extremely safe because it only releases the progestin, Etonogestrel. There is no estrogen and so the risk of clots is MUCH lower than any combined method. Failure rate is 0.05% in a year, which is almost better than getting your tubes tied. It is effective within a week of insertion and won't be affected by ANY antibiotics (except rifampin)/SSRIs. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Expected side effect: Nexplanon is an implant that releases hormones slowly to allow contraception and prevents pregnancy. Unfortunately, you can have irregular bleeding secondary to it that may or may not resolve with few cycles. See how you feel about it and speak to your obgyn if heavy bleeding occurs. ...Read more

I just had my nexplanon implant removed on Monday. Is there anything special to do for wound care?
How easy can the Nexplanon implant break? And if it does, will it still work for the rest of the 3 years?
Would it negatively affect my health or its effectiveness if I were to be tattooed over the nexplanon implant?
It's your choice: It won't interfere with the medicine. I'm a tattoo buff and have three. But you need to be VERY sure it's what you want. Wait several years after you get the original idea and if it is EXACTLY what you want, go for it. It hurts. But mine are so meaningful I would not trade the pain for any pleasure I can imagine. Follow your dream, think for a LONG time, and then make the right choice. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Does Levonelle reduce the effectiveness of nexplanon implant had it fitted 12 days ago and took levonelle 8 days ago.
Can you go swimming with nexplanon implant? And if so, how long do you have to wait to go after having it fitted? Thanks :-)
Just got the nexplanon implant two weeks ago and this morning I had this huge white membraneous clot. It was rubbery. Is this normal?
Further info needed: I need further information. Is the site of insertion healed? Is it the insertion site where you have this white discharge? Or is it elsewhere? Is the skin at the site of insertion as well as over the implant (which you should be able to feel under your skin) red or sore to touch? Blood clots are usually dark red, not white--can you give amore detailed description? ...Read more
