No: The short answer is no. As you know supartz is a five injection series. Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) one is one injection. If you are in the middle of a supartz regimen, i would not recommend a switch to synvisc (hylan g-f 20) one. Not because of side effects, but you will not be receiving suggested dose of supartz. One of the side effects is allergic reaction, especially if one is allergic to chicken products (eggs, etc). This is fairy uncommon, but it can result in a painful, swollen joint. Are you sure?: Age 42 is a surprise for this history. You need to have this diagnosis re-evaluated. When you are evaluated your diagnosis will be examined by imaging - x-ray, ultrasound, mri. Yes: As long as you knee arthrtis is not advanced then synvisc (hylan g-f 20) or other similar agents will be effective about 80% of the time. The benefit generally lasts about 6 months and the injections can be repeated as long as they continue to help. ...Read more
