Iron deficient: Sometimes, even though eating a high iron diet, the absorption is decreased. Diet= rich in iron- red meat, beans, milk and green leafy veg. You can try taking ferrous fumarate (Ferrette's on amazon) 325 mg po q day to help with the iron absorption. Retake the serum iron/ferritin in 3-4 months of trial. Read more

This is serious: You're a 28 year old man. Unless your "iron deficiency" is the result of ill-advised vegetarianism or frequent blood-bank deposits, either you have true iron deficiency anemia and need a workup for cancer, hookworm, ulcer etc. Or you have anemia from some other cause and you're treated improperly. Get with a physician who knows how to work up anemia & explain, your tiredness is probably anemia. Read more

Iron supplements: Iron sulfate is the supplement of choice for iron deficiency, but iron fumarate has similar bioavailability and CAN also be taken for iron deficiency. Since any iron can interfere with absorption of levofloxacin, make sure your take any iron at least 2 hours before or after the levofloxacin dose to avoid this problem. Read more
