What are the side effects of living without ovaries?

Menopause: Having the ovaries removed causes the same symptoms as when they naturally cease to function (ie, menopause). Many women experience hot flashes and/ or night sweats, as well as vaginal dryness as the result of declining estrogen levels. Additionally, accelerated decline in bone density occurs, predisposing one to osteoporosis. These symptoms can be managed with hormone replacement therapy.

Ovary removal: Yes there can be side effects as the ovaries continue to secrete several hormones even after menopause. Best to discuss with gyn endocrinologist before surgery.

I have cysts on my ovaries, what are the side effects of them not being treated?

Depends: Some ovarian cysts will resolve spontaneously or with medication like the pill. Other may need surgical intervention due to their size or type. Larger cyst may rupture or undergo torsion (twisting) and cause considerable pain. Consult your md about what is best for you.

I am about to have a partial hysterectomy (ovaries and cervix stay) what are the sexual side effects?

I am about to have a partial hysterectomy (ovaries and cervix stay) what are the sexual side effects?

Varies: Keeping the ovaries is probably a good idea in order to preserve the normal libido. Keeping the cervix is associated with an increased risk for bleeding, cancer, painful intercourse, vaginal infections, and the need for additional surgery (to remove the cervix later). There are very few good reasons to leave the cervix - and many good reasons to remove it with the uterus.

I had an ultrasound that showed abnormal growths on my fallopian tube and left ovary, it's extremely painful along with other side effects.

I had an ultrasound that showed abnormal growths on my fallopian tube and left ovary, it's extremely painful along with other side effects.

Biopsy: An abnormal GROWTH by the ovary and fallopian tube should be considered cancer until proven otherwise. Cancer would be unusual in a 20 yr old female and other facts must be considered. Is it truly a GROWTH? Could it be an infection or ectopic pregnancy?

Having side effects from mirena (levonorgestrel).I have lots of cysts growing on my ovary. Ob wants to use implanon can I use a 20mg topical progesterone instead?

Having side effects from mirena (levonorgestrel).I have lots of cysts growing on my ovary. Ob wants to use implanon can I use a 20mg topical progesterone instead?

Confusing: Progestin iud like Mirena (levonorgestrel) does not 'cause' ovarian cysts. Normal ovaries always have follicular and/or luteal cysts, are you certain your cysts are not normal? Finally 'no, ' topical progsterone cream will not impact ovarian cysts or ovarian cycle at all.

Are there any side effects if I use steroid creams in scrotum? I use the cream for skin tearing near thigh pelvis joint. Cream legal in my country.

Yes, you can: Commonly get fungus or bacteria overgrowth. Or less common, you can actually react to the steroid itself or the stabilizing vehicle in the cream.
