Are there any possible side effects of MRI scan?

Are there any possible side effects of MRI scan?

MRI Scan: There are very little side effects of an MRI scan- there is no radiation nor any contrast containing iodine. Some MRI scans use gadolinium as a contrast to identify certain conditions-- a reaction is possible but very low. If someone has a very very low kidney function, they cannot have gadolinium, however can have a standard noncontrast MRI. Ask your doctor for specifics to you or your scan type. ...Read more

Is it safe to fly on airplane a few hours after an MRI Scan with contrast of Neck spinal area ? Or should I postpone? Worried of side effects if any

Yes: Assuming you didn't have any concerning symptoms after the MRI scan, it would be okay to fly on an airplane. Just drink plenty of fluids to help your kidneys filter the contrast agent used during the study. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003335.htm ...Read more

MRI scan shows mild asymmetrical prominance of temporal horn on right side as compared to left side.

MRI scan shows mild asymmetrical prominance of temporal horn on right side as compared to left side.

Not important: As long as the ventricles are not enlarged, mildly asymmetric lateral ventricals usually are not important. If there is a large asymmetry, then this may indicate a remote or old cortical brain infarct. Discuss your concerns with your Doctor. ...Read more

Hearing loss on right side. Had MRI scan. What are the different illnesses that can cause this please? I would just like to know possible causes.

Unilateral nerve damage can alseo be INFECTIOUS in nature, viral and bacterial EAR infections (=Otitis). A benign tumor (Acoustic Neuroma) can cause hearing loss but the MRI most likely rules out that Diagnosis. Hope this helps An ENT( Ear Nose Throat) /Audiologist Consultation is next ...Read more

Had MRI scan of my ears. Have hearing loss in one side that's why I was sent for one. What could it be? Do you see brain also on this scan?

Yeah some brain's in: ...the picture....but if you had an MRI of your EARS....are you sure you didn't have something more like a high res IAC scan to check on the integrity of the inner ear apparatus? If that's the case then, not much brain better be seen because then, we've got a major leak somewhere! HA! Just teasing....but seriously, not much brain to be seen if it's an IAC because just lookin' at EAR. ...Read more

I had an inguinal hernia surgery in 2010. I feel pain and weakness in surgical side when i ejaculate. Will the problem be appear in a MRI scan?

No: The wound is done healing at this point, and i wouldn't expect there to be a lot of inflammation present several years out from surgery. It may loosen up and drop with time. Chronic testis pain from hernia repair is a known phenomenon, but an MRI is unlikely to be helpful. I would consult with a local urologist who has expertise in scrotal content pain disorders. ...Read more

Should I worry about MRI scan dangers?

Safe procedure: Mri is one of the safest medical procedures. Risks result from incompatibility of some medical devices such as pacemakers. You will be screened to make sure you do not have a device or condition that would place you at risk. Other potential risks result from mild heating (similar to that from exercise), noise, and claustrophobia. Most patients have no problems with the procedure. ...Read more
