Autistic 8 year old boy has brother (5 years) with speech impairment, their cousin (6 years) is hyperlexic. Do you recommend any genetic testing?

No: There are probably genetic factors in all of these, but these are polygenic. Hyperlexic kids often do very well in life. 31month boy not talkin morethan 10 sng word, normal hearin.Assesment result:Severe expressive delay no autism.Born with vacum does it damage brain part?

Unrelated to vacuum: Generally, using vacuum to help deliver a baby's head is not related to problems the child has in development or brain function. Even with today's knowledge and technology, many cases of childhood brain problems still have unknown causes (that we may figure out in the next 20-50 years). Meanwhile, keep playing with and talking with the child, do all checkups & vaccines, and just hope for the best. ...Read more

Baby boy is a 1month+5days old and he won't look anyone in their eyes. Is it true that is a sign of Autism or Developmental delays ?

Concerning: Visual development in infants is stimulated by contrast, so young infants will often look at the edge of your face or head rather than the eyes, but some brief eye contact, particularly when nursing, is expected. Pediatric ophthalmologists can evaluate your baby for vision loss, otherwise careful monitoring by your pediatrician can help early diagnosis of autism. ...Read more

9 month boy doesn't babble consonants, only vowels and gurling sounds like "aga " should I worry of speech delay or autism? All other dev are fine

Isolated speech: If this is the only issue, you have time to monitor and enhance this delay in speech/language. Work with your pediatrician. Likely you are seeing: he understands that objects continue to exist, even when they are not seen; responds to simple commands; responds to name; understands the meaning of no; imitates speech sounds; plays pat-a-cake or peek-a-boo; waves bye. Stimulate vocab by "see ; say". ...Read more

2.5 yr boy says 7 words. Has said 100.Rec. Lang. Is fine. history fam speech delay. Had glue ear. Autism r/o. Genetic test fine.Therapy didn't help. Worry?

Hearing?: Glue ear is generally diagnosed at surgery for tubes. Did he have tubes placed? Has he had a hearing test? I would ensure hearing is normal before focusing on the speech delay. If that is okay i would be sure to get another opinion of a pediatric speech therapist and potentially a pediatric ENT doctor. Also make sure his siblings aren't "talking for him". ...Read more

That means all the things that we use, or that are used to produce the goods we have, can be the toxins in our environment. There are too many chemicals or substances to count. ...Read more
