I've been having a lot of neck and shoulder spasms. I can't stretch my neck that much because it feels too stiff. What can I do?
Major myofascial pain w/TrP's (have confirmed late Lyme). Nothing releases them or shoulder spasms (phys ther, accup, chiro, massage etc). HELP!

Could be: Many things, usually if you work with any muscle and it fatigues it can spasm. Common in calf muscles, quad muscles after running around all day. Common in ab muscles if you started a new sit-up program, etc. Outside of that if it is not painful wouldnt worry about it. Stay hydrated and eat a banana to keep electrolytes up. ...Read more

Muscle : Muscle spasm are related to many thing, they usually " hurt" and the patient does complain of pain and discomfort. If this is not the case , anatomical alterations of the cervical spine might give you an impresion of muscle shortening if that is what you are refering to and is positional. Diffuse bilateral changes in the neck and the face and head are migh be related to a myofascial syndrome , but again this again will bgive pain and discomfort . Go Back 2 Ur Surgeon: Does your surgeon know about these symptoms? While they are not typical of post-wrap symptoms, if they arose right after your surgery, it would be appropriate to try and connect the two. An esophageal manometry may be a better test to assess post-wrap esophageal function. A barium swallow can provide anatomic evaluation of the wrap. Please see your surgeon to discuss.
