Rounded shoulders causing shoulder and neck pain. Is wearing a posture brace to bring the shoulders back a good idea? Will it weaken muscles?
Exercise is better.: It is far better to exercise and strengthen the muscles in your shoulder and back to correct posture. See your doc, and get a referral to a physical therapist if necessary and to be sure you don't have scoliosis or another problem of the spine that is affecting your posture. I'm 20, and i wanna use a brace to straighten up my postural kyphosis, some say it's too late. So, is it gonna work or just deform more my spine ?
Not really: When a person is still in their growing phase, a brace can be used to potentially correct an increased kyphosis. When growth is complete, this opportunity for correction is lost. Will likely not be: Helpful at all. You are done growing at age 20, so there is no reason to have a brace for this diagnosis. You have to see a physical therapist ; learn some very effective trunk stabilization programs, core strengthening programs, postural educations. I need alternative to shoulder replacement to relieve constant pain what about copper compression brace?
Copper Comp Brace: In my patient population, copper compression sleeves & braces have worked best for muscle pain as well as aching bone pain with joint stiffness. It is not unreasonable for you to try this copper sleeve for comfort sake. Might still need a medicine geared towards your described chronic shoulder pain. 3 days after 5th shoulder dislocation, took off brace to work on computer now have a dull pain under armpit. can barely move without pain?
Put sling on: Sorry to hear about your shoulder problems. You may want to put the sling or immobilizer back on in the short term as it helps to take the weight of your arm off your shoulder girdle and may help the pain and 'dead arm' sensation.
