Shoulder Popping After Surgery
My shoulder is popping and grinding with pain. It pops and grinds while rotating it. What could be the cause of this? Do I need surgery to repair?
Need a careful histo: Ry and physical exam and then some imaging tests and maybe some lab tests to establish a sound diagnosis. With that in hand, a rehabilitative program can be devised for you which MIGHT involve physical Therapy and might involve surgery. In general, the most conservative approach (non-surgical), though longer, works best in the long term. ...Read more

When I was born, my shoulder was broke, I am now 31, I can not fully extend my right arm. I have no pain but hear popping. Would I need surgery later?
Stop the popping!:
It is hard to answer this question without examining you. The purpose of the examination is to locate where the popping is coming from.
Generally speaking, though, it is not good for you to generate the popping by yourself. By doing that you may be creating a chronic injury, so try doing that as little as possible. ...Read more
Can popping your neck and back as a young person cause permanent life long damage or lead to surgery?
Complex issue; yes,: Likely, because such maneuvers, especially enough to create popping sensations, possibly noise, are inherently generating enough tissue trauma to generate the sensation (sound?), body structure, as in all living systems (all open systems; i.e. everything made of keeps changing), is based on a constant remodeling/rebuilding based on previous structure as an ongoing foundation. ...Read more

I just got rotater cuff surgery 10/22/2013 and my arm has been popping and pain shoots through it. Iis it supose to be doing that?
Probably not.: At nearly 2 months out from surgery I would suspect that this should be improving not getting worse. I would likely discuss this with your surgeon and see what his or her thoughts are about potential recurrent rotator cuff tear. I would also want to know what was done with the biceps tendon if anything. Popping in the anterior shoulder is often times related to biceps tendon instability. ...Read more

How long after?: Depends how long ago surgery was, and nature of surgery. If in early post op period (1st 4-6 wks) would not be too concerned as may resolve over time. Also if not associated with pain and not activity limiting likewise would not be concerned. If painful and fair amount of time since surgery repeat MRI may be warranted to ensure no meniscal or cartilage tearing to explain continued symptoms. ...Read more

TMJ surgery: TMJ surgery is last resort when all other less invasive treatment options have been exhausted. Patella Dislocation: The patella dislocates laterally towards the outside of the knee in people with malalignments of the patella and patella tendon. Is it common to have some popping in your knee after ACL surgery? It's been 3 weeks since surgery. The popping feels like I'm popping my knuckles.
Popping in knee: It is a common occurrence for people to feel and hear snapping and popping in the knee. After ACL surgery your quadricep tendon becomes very weak and when this occurs your kneecap does not track as well in the groove of your knee. This makes it easy to hyperextend the knee and get this popping to occur. This will improve as your motion and quad gets stronger. Scar tissue also contributes to this. ...Read more
