Neck pain and: Tingliing may be a sign of cervical spine invovlement. Other issues are shoulder instability that hurts locally and casues tingling down the arm. Or two independent issues such as neck muscle strain and carpal tunnel, both there but 2 separate conditons that come on at the same time. ...Read more

Yes/No: While excessive strain on one side by lifting and/or carrying heavy weight improperly can cause pain in shoulder and arm, and even possibly put some strain on nerves causing the tingling, it should not cause breathing issues. Might be worthwhile to have doc refer you for a couple of physical therapy sessions to learn some at home back exercises and proper carrying of heavy objects before permanent ...Read more

See orthopod: Could be from the shoulder or referred. Common referred sources include: abdomen, heart and neck. Shoulder sources include: arthritis, labral tears, instability, tendinitis, rotator cuff tears, bursitis, painful bony spurs etc. Shoulder blade pain can be from the neck or bursitis around the blade. A herniated disk in the neck could be causing your symptoms. See an orthopedist. ...Read more

Could a nerve problem be causing such symptoms? Such as left shoulder pain when breathing deeply and lying down, left arm tingling at all times.

Yes: As tingling in arm is constant, and worsens with change of position, my best guess would be nerve compression within the shoulder. Breathing deeply is like the positional change, it puts further pressure of the nerve as the lungs fill with air and compress anatomy upwards into the nerve compression site. A-C Joint? : If a young person were to have shoulder pain with pain lying on shoulder at night & weakness with lifting & a "popping" sound. A consideration is A-C, acromioclavicular, separation. Has there been a traumatic injury or fall onto shoulder? Skateboarding? See an Osteopath or Physiatrist. A-C joint X-ray films standing upright with & without weights might be needed; as well as an MRI. ...Read more
